the only way to TAS hamsterball is by using slowdown (actually i havent even checked if that works). I really dont want to spend a long time going slow through the game perfectly matching marble race, that sounds painful

Marble Race is worse! Look at the Up Race example. Simple star effects can't be se in Marble Race! And HamsterBall is better mechanics!
