Did you find that the lid didn't close properly?

I cannot get the surface skimmer to spin! Tearing my hair out. Any suggestions PLEASE?!

All I can think of is that the part that spins should be free floating on the water so the top of the intake that it sits in should be slightly below the water so it holds it in place and still allows it to spin. Other than that, then the flow rmight not be fast enough.

@@AquariumThoughts Sometimes mine also stops sucking in water. It’s the weirdest thing. I have to open everything up and start again.

While interesting, I always find it strange when people give impressions or reviews who *do not* read the instructions. It is very clear to me that your water line is very low relative to filter. I am left wondering of the bubbling effect which you complain about is your own fault not the filter - because you did not read instructions or the water level is to low. Also, while I believe you about the sound of bubbles, the background music makes it nearly inaudible which defeats the purpose of including it in the video. In the end, I think something you barely touched in would prevent me from using it which is the apparent hassle of maintenance and having to remove the entire unit though if the maintenance was every 2-3 months maybe not such a hassle. My impression of your video is 6.5/10.

The water level was high enough. I don't think that's the issue. It might be either the skimmer sucking in air or air remaining in the canister that I couldn't shake out. With how close the aquarium is to the wall, I can't really shake it enough or feel I can shake it enough. There might be a way around it, maybe. As far as the bubbling sounds on video, microphone isn't picking it up, but I can hear it with my ears. I was only really demonstrating the frequency moreso than the sound.
Maintenance I did mention that it will probably be a pain, in which I agree with you it will most likely be a pain which will be good consideration to consider.

@@AquariumThoughts - I can’t remember where I heard the following information, but I was wondering if you removed the sponge from the lower intake below the skimmer… whether that would increase the water flow and eliminate the bubbling. I think in a larger canister filters that impeded water flow can result in the air not clearing the canister. That’s just a guess based on barely barely remember information, but you might wanna consider it.

I'll have to try that out on a separate tank. Don't want to pull off the filter. 👍 I'll try it though

@@tygereyes I didn't have to pull off the sponge. But I had it running on a 5 gallon outside fine without the air bubble problem. I'm not sure if it's angle canister is hanging on it or that I was more willing to put more water into the canister before putting lid on outside than I was when I was inside. If it's a situation where I have to take it outside to maintain it, it would be a no-go for me as it'll make the process more intensive. I'll be posting the update video later this week, Thanks for your input.

@@Credyboy I had some improvement when testing it on a 5 gallon outside. I'm not sure what made the difference, but I'm assuming it was from filling the canister all the way to the top before putting on the lid. Or the angle it was resting on the tank. But the air bubbles going through the pipes were non-existent like they were when I had it on my 40 breeder. I just don't have the room behind my tank for it to be properly installed and maintained or to fidget with it, IMO. I had plenty of room outside to get it going outside along with more willingness to fill up the canister. I don't think it'll disappoint but I can see that maintenance can end up being a pain to do. I'll post the video of it running on the 5 gallon later this week
