Wow. Brings back a ton of memories. I used to visit Ft Phantom all the time when I was stationed at Dyess AFB in the early 70s. Vietnam War era. Glad to see that it looks better now than what I remember. Love your channel. Thanks.
It should be pointed out that when this fort was in use, there were no trees in the area like there is now. The trees were spread with the arrive of the cattle and cattleman.
Thanks for the video, very informative and well done. There has been a bit of strangeness in the history of this site. Apparently apparitions and other sightings were documented back when the soldiers were stationed there, thus the name. The area still seems to be remote, I can only imagine how it was in the 1850's-70's.
My friends and i were driving to work on i10 and we drove through that squall line passing Junction Txheading to The oil fields of New Mexico 👌🏽it was a sight to take in!
Yeah the only thing left is the stone portion of these buildings. As you can see, a few had stone walls instead of wood. This is on private land I believe.
Those clouds at the beginning were ominous! Interesting place.
Love the storm at the beginning!

I used to live a few miles from there, on Ft Phantom Lake. One thing I miss is the west Texas wind. They used to keep it mowed down.

Really nice photography!

Sizable fort, way out on the fronteir.
How do you find all these places or is that a secret?
Have you done the one at Sheffield?
I tried once but it was closed for the next 2 days when I arrived. It's on my radar though.
Well, they were definitely good at constructing chimneys.....🤷

Almost expected to see riders on horseback lol 😆
I live in the Plains of Texas, and this ain't it!
Coming from the east this part of Texas can certainly be considered the gateway to the plains region.
