    After watching this video several times over a three month period. I pulled the trigger and ordered one this evening. Thanks for the detailed review. It helped a lot in making a decision.

    Thanks for sharing these reviews. You've actually convinced me to finally buy a Jeep as I was really concerned about storage and safety. I'm glad to see that the Springtail Solutions Tailgate Folding Shelf works with the Tuffy Storage area!

    Great VID. I installed < 30min flat. Purchased NorthRidge 4x4. Note: Part# 326 is for JKU models. No Rattle, Solid Build. Doesnt interfere with Hard Top.

    Can you make a video on what you carry when you are offload, specifically in your bags. Thanks!

    I like the video thanks for the info. Im looking for a safe keep for some of my gear as well, only downfall I can see is if someone were to break in and just hit the unlock button on the doors... :(

    • @Wildernessways
      @Wildernessways  9 років тому

      Ryan Freeland I There are only electronic unlock doors on the front 2 doors and I am not concerned about security when I have all of the doors on, it is when i have the top and door off. At that point, the unlock buttons are not an issue.

    • @orangepowerguy
      @orangepowerguy 9 років тому +3

      Ryan Freeland If you lock your jeep with the remote and wait for 10 seconds, the door power locks are disabled. You can then only use the actual key or wireless key fob to unlock the doors including the rear.

    Wonder if they make one for a YJ this is cool

  • @imageman64

    Seems to me that if a thief opens your Jeep doors for that this or any other security rig in the back is useless unless it has a door independent of the trucks rear door. this is because any thief with access to the interior can open the rear hatch with a press of the door lock button.

    • @brandonflorkey
      @brandonflorkey 8 років тому +3

      +Kevin G If you lock the Jeep with a remote the power door lock switches on the door are disabled after 15 seconds I believe. The only way to unlock the tailgate would be to unlock it with the remote or use the key manually.

      No doors on jeep=no door lock/unlock button.

    Oh..ONE NEGATIVE (minor)..The top lifts up BUT must be proppred up. I intend on buying a Shock Arm (like you would find on a hatchback) trying to load with one arm is a Mutha! Other than that a great buy!

    You had me up until you said early on that you occasionally haul things around and you like the fact that you can take the top off and remove the plates
    with no tools at all. Can you explain that? Yet you say its secure?. It looks secure but you have me wondering now.

    • @Wildernessways
      @Wildernessways  9 років тому +1

      The only way to remove it without tools is if you have access to the inside of the storage area. If you want to remove it from the outside you need a full tool kit and it's going to take a lot of time. However there is also a way to secure it so it cannot be removed from the outside. Nothing is 100% secure but this comes as close as anything I've seen.

    How would this compare to the other similar products,,,, Slipstream & Squadbox ??
    I'm contemplating the Squadbox due to it's made of composite materials instead of sheetmetal..... "quieter & noncorosive.."
    What's your thoughts ??

    Great video brother. I had the Bestop Flex trunk on my previous 07 JKU. It does the purpose of securing, but not much weight can be hold if you place any heavier items on top of it. How much weight can this Tuffy hold on top? I just picked up 2017 JKU and in the future planning to get something similar with the ease of removing the top panel as you described.I've had Tuffy products before on my 07 JKU and 89 YJ in the past and must say I don't have any regrets having them, other than the $$!! Thanks:)

      I have had over 200 pounds of chicken feed and steel on top of it and it didn't even break a sweat. I am guessing it would be good for over 300 no problem.

    Nice video, been looking at this unit for a while. Would you say that steel lid could hold the weight of a loaded up cooler, ARB refrigerator and a lightly packed weekend bag?

      Yup, that was it, no need to spend a lot of money, a random stick the same length will work just as well.

    What year is your Jeep? Mine is a 2016 JKU, and I just received this for Christmas. However, mine looks VERY different from yours. I got the model #326.

    I just got a 2016 2-door JK, and am wondering if I can take the rear seat in and out with this staying installed? I would just keep the back seat out always, but now and then I have some little nephews I take with me in car seats. Thanks for any info.

    do u have better video on how to fully install

    • @Wildernessways
      @Wildernessways  9 років тому

      +Rob Hoyer Nope, what you see is what you get. Install is really very simple though, if I can do it, pretty much anyone can do it. You install the side brackets and the rest is just fitting it in.

    • @robhoyer3027
      @robhoyer3027 9 років тому

      Ok let me ask u this I installed it n put the brakets to were if I want to take the top off ull have to take the brakets off but it looks like u put ur bracket in between the top n the body of the Jeep. It doesn't seem like it the top will go on right if u do it that way. Did u do any modifying or anything or was that metal beam in between the body of the Jeep and the top everything's fine no water leaking no error or anything

    • @Wildernessways
      @Wildernessways  9 років тому

      +Rob Hoyer Yes, I installed the brackets between the body of the Jeep and the hard top. No leaks or other ill effects so far.

    • @Wildernessways
      @Wildernessways  7 років тому

      Not sure, because I don't have that mod installed, but there is not much if any room to recline with this installed, so I am guessing not.

    • @Wildernessways

      Should not interfere with the soft top in any way, but I can't guarantee it, since I have the hard top and have no experience with the soft top on the Wrangler.

    Way overpriced for two sheet metal plates. Why would you want to keep or when you sell your Jeep? It most likely will not fit your new vehicle anyhow.

    • @Wildernessways
      @Wildernessways  9 років тому +2

      +opjoipopikopp[pl[p[ You may think it is over priced, but there is nothing else on the market that does the same thing (Securing that rear storage area while being easily removable from the inside) for a similar or lower price. If you have a better or cheaper solution, I am all ears. Because of that, it is worth every penny of what I paid for it. As far as fitting a new vehicle? My next vehicle will be another Jeep Wrangler, so I am guessing that fit will not be an issue.

      +Wildernessways I agree, paying for security isn't cheap. I've got lots of Tuffy product and they have never failed me, the quality and workmanship is one of the best out there.
