    I cannot tell you how much I appreciated your video! I needed a “how to” video on how to use the new system…perfect!!! Thank you, and new subscriber!

    I have the V7 (replacing an old Formatt Hitech system) and look forward to a further review. Frankly I'm finding the thin aluminum step up rings a real problem. They are moderately difficult to get on and very difficult to get off. I've only played a bit with them but frankly I'm afraid to use them on my lenses as I think they will lock on and be impossible to get off. If you can discuss this either here or via PM, I would be most appreciative. As of now I won't use this system. I'm thinking a magnetic based system might make more sense.

      I've had absolutely no issues with the step up rings from NiSi. Put the step up/down ring on your lens first, and make sure it's real snug. then put the adapter ring on (the one with the CPL) and put that on just a little less snug so step up ring doesn't get stuck on it.
      If having trouble putting step up ring on lens, make sure threads on lens are clean.
      I'd never trust a magnetic system.

    V7 is nice kit. have said that, it is easy to load the CPL. however, the CPL is very easy to fall off from the holder. In my case, the CPL fell off twice. Fisrt case, i found the CPL. Second case, it is gone. I could not find it from anywhere due to high grass.

      Sorry to hear that. I have never had that happen to me, and I leave it on the camera almost all the time even while walking and driving between photo destinations.

    Matt do you know if the V7 filter holder will work with the Sony 14mm GM lens or do I need to buy the V6? Found video on V6 & that will definitely work on the Sony 14mm. Thanks DC

      You talking about the f1.8 lens? You are going to need 150mm filters and a special holder for that lens, the S6 Filter Holder for the Sony FE 14mm f1.8 GM lens (different than the v6 holders...) if you don't want any vignetting: shop.mattsuessphoto.com/nisi-s6-150mm-filter-holder-kit-with-landscape-cpl-for-sony-fe-14mm-f-1-8-gm/
      According to my info, that lens does not accept screw mount filters so that is going to rule out the v6 and v7 100mm filter sets.

    Hi Matt, do you rotate cpl via external knob?

    • @MattSuessPhoto
      @MattSuessPhoto  2 роки тому

      There is a small dial on the outer edge that allows you to rotate the cpl

    nice tuto. I am interested with that V7 for my new Z 14-30 F/4 lens 82mm. I am also interested with the nisi natural night. I hesitate to take it 100x100mm or circular 82mm. Do you think a circular one would make more vignetting at 14, 16, 20mm ? It is so easy to assemble, compact and less flare with a lens hood. Does it happen we cascade it with another filter on a V7 (ie: with GND for sunset above a city) ?

      Which camera body are you using it on? It appears that you can use the 100mm system but I just want to double check. The CPL in V7 is thinner than a standard screw CPL, so you might get slight vignetting on screw CPL at widest. Very easy to assemble and break down. If shooting towards sun at angle, would have to use your hand or something else to block sun hitting front filters, as there is no lens hood compatibility of course. With the V7 in addition to the CPL, you can add up to 3 more ND/grad ND filters.
