You asked, "Papa was a rolling stone... what does that mean?" There is a saying that, "A rolling stone gathers no moss." Here it is referring to the fact that he just couldn't stay put long enough to settle down anywhere; kind of like saying he couldn't stay in one place long enough for the dust to settle. I saw that you looked it up, but that source didn't seem to mention the original saying that it was taken from. It was great watching you rock out to the song, even if it didn't say much beyond the one chorus over and over. The funky sound of this one makes it worth listening to even if it is pretty simple in terms of lyrics.
Lawyers told you to! Man! I'm in the dark here. Hopefully you appreciate the different voices which they played with quite a bit in earlier years. This was about the time when Motown allowed artists to tackle serious subjects. Thank you for sharing!
Love the temptations! They were so much fun in concert! When my older sister was getting her license, she was driving with our Mother riding shotgun and I was in the back. This sibling was a Motown fan so I was too! It played on the radio, my sis and I singing along. Out of the blue our Mom says, "what a sad sad song!" True! I countered with a comment about how some of her favorite Irish ballads are sad too. We looked at each other and laughed! Wonderful music which reveals a truth is always necessary. PS I had other siblings who each preferred a certain style.....rock, folk, psychedelic...I enjoyed them all! 😹 When pressed to choose, I refused saying that it's unnecessary! Funny thing, at 60 years old, I feel exactly the same! 😽
Loved your life story. Thank You for sharing brought~back memories of fondness and fun for you all. Thank you for this. I’ve never listened to this song like this before. Never really heard the lyrics properly but they tell a man’s story
Wore out the Temps, the 4 Tops & The Supremes records too! Aussie Granny thanks you again for the memories.
We don't change, we just get wiser, sharper or view our life in numbers not cherishing the memories. Glad you chose the memories. Many more memories of fondness of love & happiness to you and yours. Take Care, Ms. Christina ~!

Try this song from Live From Daryl's House. Excellent! Daryl Hall from Hall and Oats and Train is his guest. Great version of this song.
