Welcome to Paris! Last October we have been following Charli XCX around the French city, while she flips through a bunch of ye-ye records, speaks about her influences for her second record and her totally renewed band, preparing for #LASERCLUB night at Le Bataclan.

It's interesting watching this now that the second album is out. She never really followed through with much of the influences, red is now pink, the french wave sounds isn't there, but definitely the girl group vibe is. It's cool. Wonder what this album would've been like had Fancy and Boom Clap not have taken off.

Last I heard, she was still seeing the second album as both red and pink. And I always assumed the French music was just an muse of sorts, not necessarily something you were supposed to pick up on in the music. And sure, Sucker doesn't sound like True Romance, but I really feel like she would've changed her sound regardless, that's just the kind of artist she is.
