When i was groing up Christian street was def south philly ... But ppl north of Washington Avenue beefed with ppl south of it... Don't cross the tracks... To this day most old heads debate that the real south philly is south of Washington ave... And in today's time I agree but in early 80's south philly was everything south of south street
I could be wrong but most people consider South Steet the start of South Philadelphia. Christian street goes right through the heart of the Italian Market, definitely South Philly.
Technically any street running north/south, that is south of market street has a “South” in front of the street name. For example, Broad street north of market is North Broad.
Camden east philly can't change my mind. Far northeast probably going be its own township one day then maybe not because the police academy is up there. For now philly is philly at least that what tax code says 😂😂
It was a live steam when I was on my 48 state cross country trip over 2 years ago. I think I was in Texas when I shot this. Aside from livestreams being naturally blurry and only available in 720 p resolution.... I probaly also had poor internet signal. Those folks Watching it that day didn't have any complaints though Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Have a good day
I'm born and raised in North philly. Born in episcopal hospital on Lehigh. Graduated Edison high school. And graduated college back in 2012 on 17th and chestnut. I was explaining this for folks who don't know. I've documented over 600 tours covering 100+ philadelphia neighborhoods and many people don't understand how the map is layed out. Have a good day
I grew up in West Philly. Born at the Old Philadelphia General Hospital aka PGH in 1965. I got out Once I've turned 18 years of age, and never glanced back. Philadelphia used to be a classy city. Once they've gotten rid of the legendary Mayor Frank Rizzo, Philly begin to circle the drain. It's time to flush, twice.
My brother was born in Philadelphia, I was born across the river in Camden. I've lived in the Philly area my entire life, over 6 decades. I worked in the city of Philadelphia in the building trades for over 20 years, I'm now retired but often I still go to the city (South Philadelphia, West Kensington, West Philadelphia, Port Richmond, Brewerytown, Fishtown, Wissinoming etc.). Most people in the city are the nicest people you ever want to meet, however, like in most places there are a few people and situations to avoid.
Rockledge definitely isn’t in Philly 😂😂😂 and if Camden was connected? 😂😂😂😂 that was all I needed to hear. That’s like saying if China was connected to California it would West America
love the video, I'd say Christian Street is definitely part of South Philly, but South Street is prolly part of Center by now
South Street is definitely center city.
