Very insightful video. Deepest gratitude to you for making such videos and helping all of us in getting comfortable with the topic. Keep doing this amazing work!! You are a great guide.
How actually MCAS prevents files being uploaded/downloaded, how does it check/impose labels and so on if all traffic between client and cloud is encrypted and the SSL/TLS inspection is not performed? Is it the case that third party cloud app signals to MCAS via API call or something what action user is trying to perform? In that case, the end cloud app would know about document type, content, label and so on and could signal back to MCAS which in turn would take appropriate action. Am I on the right track? I don't see any other way. Thanks again for great tutorial!
SSL inspection is performed, no about it, but this is actually powered by session control, or to be very precise reverse proxy capabilities. There is a dedicated MCAS DLP engine, as well as the M365 DLP engine is also available. FYI - the new name for MCAS in now Microsoft defender for cloud apps.
Hi Mike, Hope all good with you. No currently MCAS doesn't offer this capability for rich client applications. Session controls are only available for web client.
