I watched this interview fully but I did not know that Mutuma Mathiu is such a good interviewer too. Great simple questions that required direct answers. Amazing.
Simple questions belong to the past. A real Journalist is one who touches real issues without fear and definately Mutuma is not one.
Truly Dr. Matiangi is a performer. He has a track record. He is a good leader.

I can't judge the interviewer, I want to believe he has done his best but honestly speaking NTV can offer it's viewers a better journalist for such interviews, being learned and having years in the industry doesn't make one good, just pick the best to deliver this interviews. Mutuma seems to be good at other duties maximize on his potential don't kill his career by exposing him on his weak foot.

I loved the interview. No shenanigans and drama like we would have witnessed if some slay queens and slay kings conducted the interview.
Listening to Matiang'i just inspires hope on the leadership of this country. There are still good, selfless and God-fearing leaders left in our country. If you go for Matiang'i goes for the top seat, he already has my vote. He delivers.

This is the only person i trust can straighten all civil servants given the chance to rule this country. When they all cornered to their positions and work the country will grow tremendously!!

Why don't we give these man the high office we see what will happen, Kenyans let's try these man.
Leadership at the top is what drives the nation not the people, that is why you have leaders to create the precepts which people follow
There comes a time when people need to drive the nation and the leadership at the top. Think of independence, change in 2002 etc. It was about changing leadership at the top. So it's not one way, leadership at the top is reflective of a people's will.

Michuki, Matiang'i etc have exactly imagined this things from nowhere. It's common things that Kenyans complain about and wish happened. They're ideas from the people. I do agree with you that there has to be some extraordinary will power from a leader, but then it has to resonate with the people...
Other great leaders who were made by the people because they carried the people's dreams/were therefore supported: Mandela, Obama, Kibaki, Raila etc
@@Tunawesmake, On the contrary, I disagree with you. If people were so good and they can lead then why have leaders. You are a father, not a democracy. If your heart is in the right place then you will lead. Democracy is a system of deceit and thus we are where we are. Peoples dreams? What is the basis of those dreams what is the datum against what they are measured? I use the Ultimate leadership source and that is the Bible. Its leaders, not the people. that is why no matter how mature a democracy you still need uniformed services

We can't have 50 million Kenyans approving a loan or a project. They need representative(s).
As I said earlier, it's true that we have leaders who bring new ideas, but if the don't resonate with the people that is when you have coups, revolutions etc, and new leaders installed.
So leadership does not exist in isolation/exclusion of the people's wishes. And I igree with you to the extent that sometimes people's wishes aren't expressed by the leaders they appoint/systems they install (hence reason for discontent/change).
We have leaders whom you describe (lead people to where they had no idea they want to go). But then we also have leaders who are born out of people's already established needs. My point is we can't talk of leaders as exlusively one of the above types.
Your point on uniformed forces can explain deviance. It's difficult to talk of people having one uniform behaviour or dream, regardless of type of leadership. Uniformed forces keep law and order and defend the country. That they are necessary doesn't mean all people don't want to keep law and order. It's just human nature that at one point an individual's needs may make them act in a manner that disrupts social order (e.g late for work/interview one may speed beyond allowed limits = this doesn't mean this person has no desire for safe orderly roads. This person may still speed regardless of the type of leadership they have.)
Finally, if the ideas of a leader do not resonate with the people, and s/he still insists on them because they feel leadership is always a top down affair, it may easily become ineffective to make people act or even a dictatorship. Top down approach, 'I know it all you follow' is such a nice model if the leader is right. People are doomed if he's not. He's human and can be very wrong. Yet can't be told so because it's a top down system.
About heart being in right place, even Hitler and Osama had their hearts in the right place for their people. The road to hell is paved with good intentions. Leaders to need a check by the people.
About people disappearing, have the CS checked possibilities of such from cyberspace issues ? or other horoscope manifestation among many others.

If Kenyans elect their President on the BASIS of performance, let me hear anyone else who can beat Matiang'i for the 2022 Election? Can't Kenyans make a difference this time round and elect a leader based on performance instead of ethnic affiliations, charlatanism, and populism?
Matiang'i talks of COLLECTIVE CONSCIOUSNESS of a society. This is what is lacking in Kenyan society, thus undermining PATRIOTISM in Kenyans. Without patriotism, Kenya can have all the resources and potential but no Development. Patriotic citizens don't steal, and plunder resources meant for the country's Development.
Kenyans have a chance to make a difference in 2022, or stick to the confused and myopic "Dynasties" v/s "Hustlers Nation" crap.

What a poor host . No tough questions were asked . Matiangi clearly was uncomfortable with the conflict of interest question he has with the DP he avoided the question but the host did not press him . Asking soft ball questions for a person who is being rumored to be a presidential aspirant is really pathetic of a host . This host should be ashamed .

Poor host long questions
Truth be told, Mijungu and Debarl would have done a better job in this interview. Makes you wonder the criteria which was used to retain or release employees at NTV.
