A solid performance, with great jumps and some innovative choreography - it really suited Vanessa's style of skating.
6th in LP standings; 6th overall

Too bad she wasnt in the final group, with a performance like this she definitely could have stolen bronze.

Artistically she was better than Irina and Maria. Had she hit the triple salchow I would have voted her ahead of both of those two. Lu might have had slightly more technical content and was better artistically but if they had both been in the final group who knows what could have happened. She would have had reputation on her side as the reigning world bronze medalist.
@@mikeg8375 I agree with you. A lot of Chen Lu's jumps were questionable/cheated. Vanessa's jumps were a league ahead and her artistry was quite nice. It's too bad the short program didn't go well for her because she would've won bronze for sure.

@@jf2602 In all reality, Lu Chen only had 4 clean triples and won the bronze. Step out on the flip, way under rotated on the second Lutz and toe.
Her programs always have the jumps in the same order. Flip, Lutz, Loop, A spin.... They're basically the same program but to different music.
That's not true at all. Her programs had different element layout every year from 1997 to 2000, very different choreography, and totally different concepts. She was one of the most artistic skaters in the world. Yeah, she did a Lutz and Flip and Loop somewhere in the first half of all her Long Programs, but so what? They have to be put in somewhere.
I love this program.... A dream to watch
