blake, pino, sam. i am sure y'all aint reading the comments but (from the bottom of my heart) thanks. just a kid from Newfoundland here, lovin' this shit.
Your comment together with the title made me think of "Djorolen" by Ouomou Sangare, or even a newly released song in "Djourou" by Ballaké Sissoko and Sona Jobarteh.
Damn, i´m glad I decided to watch an Miles Davis documentary (the legend of Miles Davis) coz this video poped up at the end of it! Now im waiting for your album at 12th of march!
Wow. I feel like I've just taken a trip somewhere, floating out on some otherworldly plane. Super tasty. Thanks for putting this up, gentlemen. Started my day a little better because of it. I am not a musician, just a "professional appreciator" (ref. "High Fidelity"), but I'm wondering if I hear some musically ancestral influences of "Kind of Blue"?
Djurkel is also another well-mixed instrumental sounds production from Blake's trio band. Unlike 'Just Wrong' earlier, it has,i think, a pinch of african beat in the middle. Very interesting instrumental sounds to listen to. As a matter of fact, it's another of Blake's great song piece, lately.
Thank you for uploading this video! I love seeing this after watching the “official”, more polished video/version. So inspiring to see some of your jams and process!
I like it too. The beginning part sounded a bit like Tuareg music to me (check out Mdou Moctar if you'd like to hear what I mean), but the blend of different elements worked well.
@@blahdelablah Yeah man I had a similar thought... this is hugely African influenced for sure...sounds like Ali Farka Toure or Tuamani Diabete. Any one who doesnt know this stuff should check out Farka Toure with Ry Cooder or Diabate on New Ancient Strings for an intro. So much great playing!
Video could use a production boost but I love what I'm hearing, like some chill post-rock mixed with jazz fusion. I especially enjoyed the sax and whatever effects you put on it...almost sounds like it's being doubled by a clarinet at some points, really dope.
This live session is finally getting pressed to vinyl! Pre-Order is up here: insheepsclothinghifi.com/product/pino-palladino-blake-mills-sam-gendel-live-at-sound-city-ep/
God bless whoever got the idea to get those three together
Pino got himself a capo
I love the loop grabbing that Courtney Pine and deep African folk polyrhythm vibe. Bliss! Utter bliss
sounds good. everyone was on their best behavior

Listening (and loving it) in Nova Scotia, can't wait for the full album!
@@aidanmccracken1 Nice!
Beautiful. It reminds me a little of Ali Farka Toure, and some ethiopian jazz i've heard.

This one is some real smooth magic. SG is the perfect compliment for those two fretsters.
Got a Tinariwen vibe from the intro. Awesome!
Yeah man, or those other dudes Diabate and Farka Toure... love it!
This made my day.
dig this jon hassell vibe
Wonderful! Like a jazzy Latin Playboys
Brilliant 🙌🏼
Marcella Cytrynowicz has a pino video too. 🤙

gorgeous
This is what we need right now!
Hypnotic!
Didn't expect the psychedelics to kick in the music and the video. Mindblowing.
I love this music so much... ! at some points reminds me of the instrumentals on the "rain tree crow" album, an absolute favourite of mine.
so good!
Killer grooves. So nice..

Yes, yes, yes.

These boys don’t miss...
Wow
Saw Pino live in 2006 was impressive and still fire 🔥
I like
Oh yeeah
this is legendary stuff
That bass sounds fantastic.
Magnatone? Ok, not surprised it sounds great, but didn't know they made basses.
This is incredible! Thanks a lot
Wow!!!!!
So awesome. I wish it was brighter so I could see Pino playing.
God. Damn.
What if I want to follow Sam??

Very Well Done! :)

Oh MAZING! This living room concert vid series is my favorite music in a long time! Let's pray there's a few more times coming out of this sesh... 😎😎😎
Why isn't Sam's name…"attached" to the name of the act/album front cover?
^^ for real
Oh my gawd!!..killer love it
Some really bonafide djurkling here.
So sick!
how does he get that harmonized sax effect?
@Lev yeah! thanks! I definitely think it's pedals, wondering which ones..
whammy pedal of sorts..pitch shifter
genius
What amp is Blake using? Looks like a head with a graphic eq?
che classe
So dope 🔥🔥
Saxophone effect?
TIME FEEL
Yeah this is like the most unique new music I've heard, I love the blend of melodic playing with effects, trippiest stuff I've heard Pino on

incredible....what drum machine is that? x
maestro rhythm king !
the only thing tighter than pino's playing are the closeups on his face
He's on some Richard Thompson shit for sure

This is closer to hip hop than post-rock imo. This has current, new york jazz feel to me.
The quality of music being created is becoming inversely proportional to the shittiness of the world. This is just amazing. Thank you.
Thank you!
Yup
ridonculous
yup year later still hits just as hard too
Is this the same Blake Mills as played with Vulfpeck a few years back?
Yeeesir

Eagle-eye challenge: what's on Pino's pedal board?
Analog alien bass station, boss oc2 and (I think) a tuner.
@@joescartwright Snark(!!) tuner to be specific.
@@pmcd Nice, I didn’t know they made pedals, they used to do those clip on guys right?
@@joescartwright yep. Basically the cheapest tuners you can buy.
@@pmcd Well I certainly feel much better about not buying that peterson one now.
This is very Jimmy Giuffre 3. Very nice.
Ooffff nice
Is Blake playing a DE baritone?
Looks like it
SO FRESH. just got turned.on to.this.stuff via chris weismans interview with pablo held
hey kirk
@@danminshew2778 lmao
@@kirkmeynig9660 Glad you're getting into Blake ! :)
🎯Eargasm- you guys are sick. MORE!!!
Hammeronpulloff
getting mad John Lurie vibes
i was here
The music is so beautiful and crystal tight! But man I gotta say I don't find the low-rez Vulfpeck-esque videos very flattering...
