I have probably removed at least 100 2sc945 limiters from cobra 148's and 2000's and others when i had my CB shop in the 90s and 2000s. after that I started to put a switch to either have the limiter on or off. CB radio I could tell some stories, still have 2-2500W ham amps although only one has tubes.
@@norcal715 Smart customer. That unit is a classic high-end unit and I bet there aren't many of them left in circulation that are that pristine & well kept and worth saving for that reason alone in addition to your stated YT mission, which is a great service to all. Thanks and looking forward to seeing it. I must add, I've mentioned it previously, I wish you would take more pride in your work "restoring" these items by taking a "few minutes" to clean them up making them look their best for your customers (and your reputation as a "quality" repairer) . Please stop just "fixing the problems" and start "taking pride in your work". I know you probably don't like hearing that, but come on', help "teach" good ethical business practices in those who come after you... Thanks.
We are all different but I like the output IC's better than having to go through and replace all of the individual components. The failure of the output IC could have been caused by someone shorting the output out while the unit was on or from running to low of an ohms load on it. Whenever you fix a problem like this you should always make sure the customer knows how to correctly connect the speakers and what ohm speaker they can use or it may come back in with the same problem again.
I have a Sony HDC-ZX99i that is having an old behavior. When I press any key it gives me the wrong function . If I press the tuner keys sometimes will give me audio functions such Jazz , pop or any other random key function. That happens on all keys including the cd ones with the exception of the stand by key that is isolated from the rest of them. I checked all the electrolytic capacitors on display board where those keys are connected but all of those seem to be ok including their respective ESR values. This is one of those things I'm not good at diagnosing and don't know where to look next. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
I own one of these and still absolutely love it. Think we bought it in 1981.
I have loads of those 2SA733 and even more 2SC945, they were used in CB radios in the late 80’s/90’s which is why I have them.

Well done on the diagnosis! You can't beat the correct use & understanding of a schematic.
Love this stuff. Looking forward to part 2!
Coming soon!
Can't wait to see part 2
it is coming!
Awesome, as always!
The Marantz is a beauty and needs to be restored. Hopefully the customer agrees and we can see a part 2
Yes he did approve the $185 estimate, and you will see a part 2 soon. Just have to finish editing it.
Interesting conflicts on a nice unit. Hope customer will decide to hang on to it.

very nice analysis.
I love the old hand assembled soldered boards. They are beautiful.

Awesome video!
Where do you find those schematics?
usually hifiengine.com or elaktrotanya.com . sometimes you just have to google it and sift through many pages to find them.
@@norcal715 thanks for the information!
