This tool-assisted speedrun by FractalFusion aims to beat Mega Man X by using a glitched password and walking all the way as fast as possible.

It was made on an emulator, using frame-by-frame shooting, savestates, and rerecords to overcome things like reaction time and human error. As such, it is purely a form of entertainment, and is not designed to show skill.

I love how he has dash boots at the ending. "There's no way they can skip dash boots, so just make the sprite have them."
I like the way the ending credits assume you have the boots since normally it would be impossible to bypass them.
Love your comments in the tasvideos description of the run. Very interesting run. I think it's cool to try and run games in a limited fashion and the idea of a walkathon in this game is tantalizing. This is awesome. Just call it its own thing, you clearly are onto something. You mentioned others have had the idea for similar games but I think the idea of restrictions like this are interesting. I love unique runs of games so this was awesome, especially for a game I personally poured many hours into as a kid lol.
THIS IS SICK. Bro the moves on display here? Forgot that such good game design existed. Each enemy requires distinct weapons and movement patterns to deal with optimally, the idea of having to beat them all without the added benefits of "movement" tech on top of obviously having played enough to have memorized the enemies and patterns. Awesome stuff man.

around mid 2013, it's a difficult project because in order to capture the essence of Mega Man and Mega Man X's movement in it's truest form, there's a lot of stunt coordination being done that's never been attempted in another movie! (spoiler alert) a trailer will becoming out within 2013.
I bet this submission was a tough one to get judged/accepted, but I'm glad it did! I enjoyed it.

Somewhere out there must have been a tester who played through the game without dash boots, got to the end credits, recorded and reproduced a graphical glitch in the ending, and after a bug report was written and submitted, got a response that this was a "feature"...or at least until the next iteration.

hahaha! love that response lol, as you can tell I'm a total Mega Man nerd, it's my favorite game and favorite superhero, I love it so much that I'm making a Mega Man movie, Bboy's aren't just dancers, we're great stunt coordinators and directors too! lol

I wonder how much time would be saved if the phantom grab glitch was used in this run.
granted the game isn't long, but considering it's hard as fuck, most average players will take days trying to beat it, and these speedruns typically are only about half as fast as most N64 games which are substantially longer, like Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time with glitches can take around 20 to 30 minutes, and fractal fusion has by far the fastest Mega Man X time than anyone on youtube and that's around 29 minutes, so the game might only be ten hours, but it's just as hard as today's games!
Why is the final boss Captain Falcon with a beamsword?
