Looks like the shaft is a lose fit in that blade witch would explain the noise on high as well as the shaft poking out as it walked the blade back overtime. One thing you could do to try to fix it is to try to shim the shaft from the hub with a bit of paper to make the fit a bit tighter.

Thanks for the tip! I really like this fan and want it fully functioning even though I really only just keep it on display. So odd how this happened! I purchased it that way without knowing (ebay)

I think what they were doing with those was using up old parts stock.
That noise is likely just a loose blade. You may need to shim it or maybe tighten up the security spring.

Hello Ed, the superior electric superlectric five blade for 78 79 has the shaft coming through the blade hub I do have one

That is good to know. I haven't opened this one up yet and I'm looking forward to it. If it comes through the hub by design that would be a departure from Edison's normal setup. But who knows?! Will do a video when I get to opening it up.

I wonder if the shaft is slipping inside the blade hub? I had 2 fans do that and i had to pull the blade off and pinch the clamp together and put it back on the motor. You might need to use a toothpick and use a small peice of tape on the flat part of the motor shaft to it actually grabs the blade and spins it the same speed as the rotor. I had to do this on 2 fans in the past and it sounded exactly like that before being repaired.

I really think you could be right. On one of my Edison Comfort fans (I did a video on it) that I have rebuilt, I had this problem with putting the fan on high but the blades would only go like they are on low. I basically did what you suggested and it worked. Unlike other fans it's nearly impossible to determine if the blade hub has a flat spot to line up. For the life of me I can't see it, if it does! Thanks for watching! :)

Lifetime lubricated bearings? 🐮💩! If anyone believes that, they're in The Twilight Zone.

Take the motor apart and oil it.
