Originally crafted by British fly tyers John Goddard and Clive Henry in the 1960s, this fly is famed for its buoyant deer hair body, making it nearly unsinkable. Excellent tutorial. These are sometimes tied with two stripped stems as antennae. This is far from just a still water pattern. Floating like a cork, it excels on the fast, broken water of freestone and tailwater rivers. I have, at times, had to stop using the Goddard Caddis because the trout were taking it so aggressively they were swallowing the fly.
