CORRECTION: Ya'll I am SO sorry, my husband runs the checkbook, and informed me that even though this is our main grocery haul of the month we do spend significantly more than I had said (closer to $700 a month). I'm so embarrassed that I was so off, but wanted to let you know so this can be as accurate as possible 💗
@@tnctnc5972 I’m sorry I was so off the first time 🙈 Josh takes care of the finances so well and I should have double checked with him before throwing out numbers 💗
You're so sweet to follow up with the new total. Thank you so much for walking us through your shopping and meal planning with us. This helps me a lot😄. Happy Valentine's Day to you and your family❤
You may have been thinking $100 per person per month which would put you at $600 a month (give or take) so I bet that's what you were thinking or meaning to say 😊 or at least that's how I took it when you were chatting. 😉
Steph......thanks so much for sharing your ideas and ways with us. I grew up on a 30 acre farm and I learned so much from my Grandparents. I love how you are raising your children and making the most of the life that you have. You are a bright light in a darkening world.....your videos make my heart happy! Thank you.
Okay I just have to say I recently found your channel and I am in LOVE!! We currently live in the “big city” for my husbands career but it’s our dream to move back to the country on a farm and raise our own animals and grow our own fruits & vegetables. Your videos are so dreamy and inspirational to me! Thank you for sharing!!
Your basement is glamorous with all your beautiful foods. Thanks for sharing how you do you meal planning. We also shop first, it saves money to buy what is on sale and plan around it. Your an awesome homemaker❤️
Today is Valentine's day, so we're doing breakfast for dinner, a family favorite... baked southwest omelets, chocolate chip pancake bake, and sausage. Banana pudding for a treat.
I love my Costco and have to drive to Harrisburg for it, I love Aldi, and sometimes Sam’s Club but am going more and more for Azure as there are so many organic options (especially organic oats and sea salt). I shop backwards from my pantry and try to do a pantry challenge. We were spending about $150 a week with 7 children under 11.5 to infant) and growing most of our leafy greens, tomatoes…I just have to buy milk to make yogurt and rice. The hugest saving I tell everyone is not buying carb products and making our own bagels, tortillas, wraps, artisan, sourdough, English muffins etc which use to be a decade ago what drove up my grocery bill the most! Once we get on our farm full time we hope to not ever have to buy berries and apples again as it’s on its 3rd year and we bought them pretty huge!
That's a good frugal grocery shopping 200 dollars a month, and showing us your pantry and food storage and freezers and food planning menu. Excellent video. Plz do more of these videos. Enjoy watching this video very informative.
Heart is excellent! I was scared to cook it too, but finally took the plunge with a deer heart last deer season. Simply butterfly it, cut out any fat and blood vessels (I'm not sure how butchers handle the heart, so you may not need to do these two steps), then soak in salt water overnight up to 24 hours in the refrigerator to draw out the blood, then rinse thoroughly and roast as you would any other roast of the same size. The meat is tender and doesn't have the "offal" flavor or texture that other organ meat does. You can find more specific directions on the internet. I'm going off memory for preparing deer heart from 6 months ago! 😅
Loved this video! Would be so interesting to see a new one about your pantry and freezers since this one is one year old. Thank you for sharing so openly. Can't believe how little you spend on food! But you do grow veggies and have your own meat which must make a big difference ❤🎉 My freezer is full of veggies from my garden.
With all those freezers, do you have a back up generator just in case of a storm in the winter or summer? We added extra freezers and my husband was adamant about having a back up generator so nothing gets lost in case of a storm. We are in Kansas so the weather can be unpredictable. I imagine with a farm, you have a generator. Thanks for sharing your system for planning for your larger family! ❤
Good morning Steph. What a haul. Everything looks absolutely delicious - expecially that basement deep freezer full of lots of meat - my favorite being that Chuck Roast. Thanks so much for sharing your meal planning for a large family. 👍😊
I cook beef heart in the instant pot then slice it up and dehydrate it up for grd puppy treats. I’ve taken the heart and ground it up raw and and portions of it to hamburger recipes…if it grosses you just remember is a healthy addition to your meals. Beef tongue is a great meat….take it and pierce the skin several times…..instant pot it and have your hubby remove the skin if it grosses you…..I cook mine up and slice thinly into gravy or BBQ sauce. Very tender…. I as a child had to help on the farms of aunts making what they raised into food for winter….Souse from pig heads, pickled pigs feet, beef organ meats, chicken livers……chicken parts into broth. My grandson gave me deer bones and some meat and I made a hearty broth. My daughters would not cook this way and my son use to but his new wife will not cook any of it. I’ve canned and dehydrated a lot of meats…I wish I could afford a freeze drier but not now….. We use to butcher hogs and beef as a family in my sons garage he had set up but not anymore since he remarried…..I miss the farm fresh meats…..I’m surprised you don’t raise meat chickens…so much better then what you can buy…..especially when you put them out on moveable hen house tractors. I make extra of my recipes to have in the freezer to give as gifts, for busy days and to use up items that might otherwise go bad….
Since it’s Holy Week before Easter, the menu includes cabbage salad, dumplings with potatoes, homemade bread and kutabs made from greens (nettle, wild garlic, garlic, sorrel) from the dacha. I make semi-hard and soft cheese, yogurt, condensed milk, sour cream myself, so that I can eat natural food and save money, since we don’t have a cow or goat. For those who are not Christians in our family, I prepared hedgehogs: homemade minced meat with rice in the form of round boiled cutlets with vegetables and broth.
The meal plan system I have established is similar to yours. We buy our beef and pork from farmers. Chicken usually purchased in bulk on sale. I first go shopping and plan our meals according to what we have. Or sometimes what I'll do is "challenge" myself. Cook with whatever I havd in the fridge, freezer or pantry. Which I imagine you'd be doing near the end of the month. Thank you for this inspirational video. I really enjoy your cooking, baking or homemaking videos. Keep them coming!
Hi I enjoy your videos and I dont know if your allowed to film at your store but would love more information. Is it a food coop situation where you donate time . Those prices of 35ct per lb is great. I dont know if you rush through your videos because you think you'll bore us but definitely not Don't apologize for your situation. As farmers you work incredibly hard and it cost you to raise the animals. There are lots of ways for others to save in different ways, food banks, outlet grocery stores, coupons ect. Please show more of your shopping. I live near kitchner ontario which has a lot of Mennonite and Amish and I get great bulk prices on produce ect and I do a lot of canning a well. HAPPY MONDAY Steph, family, and fur babies. How do you know which freezer to cook out of first regarding dates? or freezer burn? Wow; you guys have a stock; I love it. We have a fridge upstairs and one downstairs and we are grateful we can keep both stocked up; right now we have two hams downstairs in the freezer and one upstairs. I plan to use one for Easter Holiday. WE ARE empty Nesters now , however, we stock up for our two son's and the oldest one is married with our two grands so we keep stocked just in case if they ever needed anything. THANKS FOR SHARING...SHARED TO THE BURGH
Thanks. Don't worry about apologies we all make mistakes. Great haul. Doing the pantry challenge it surprises me how much better I need do. Going back to simple eating, cooking from scatch, cookbooks, eating healthy , eating what you have
one of out go to meals is a kale, quina, black bean, chicken, feta & roasted sweet potatoes and shallots super yummy and can last for 2-3 meals. (2-3 meals for just two people)
We hunt for our meat (moose and caribou) and we always grind the heart in with the burger. It's a nice way to include some organ meat without having to do anything different. We also ground some of the liver in with some of the burger once, (don't remember how much we did, it wasn't a ton). We would mark it and then I would use that when making something like chili that had a lot of other flavors going on, since there was a little bit of liver flavor. We never ever noticed it once cooked up into a meal. I even made meatloaf with, I think, one package of burger with liver and one without, and we totally forgot that we'd even used the stuff with liver until the meal was half over. But we for sure always grind the heart in, (after trimming it). We do all our own meat processing which does make it easier to experiment and control how much of what we do. I was served deer heart as a child and it was just done in small steaks or little strips, possibly marinated, and (other than being super disturbed by eating heart in my young mind) it was good. Members of my family's hunting camp would cook the heart in camp, like in little strips over the fire after getting an animal, it was kind of a tradition, the first fresh meat. I probably had it that way too as a child.
We do the same...shop and then meal plan!😀 For the beef heart....I like to make tacos. Cube the heart into little pieces(remove the fat). Brown the heart meat in oil and add lots of onions and peppers to that. Once brown and onions are sauteed then add seasonings salt, pepper, and tomato juice. Cover and let simmer for awhile until the soup is thick. Heat up corn tortillas and add your heart meat, avacado or mayo is good on that as well.
More meal plans ❤your family are truly blessed. That Deer Bologna I'm curious to know the taste of I'm a NJ but, I love food up in Lancaster area in Pa. Unable to travel by car places for cheaper foods ATM so when I am finally able that's a blessing.
This is amazing!!! The process, even the budget at 700$. I have a family of 4 and spend nearly 1000 a month in an attempt to not eat out. But you have mastered the freezer where I am scared to freeze things for no good reason 🤷♀️
I really enjoyed this video. I enjoy them all, but this is so necessary right not in the world we're living in. I love all the new dinner ideas. I do meals just like this too. You're such a delight to watch, one of my faves 🩷🕊🙏!!
Thank you for sharing. Two comments I wanted to share which I hope will be helpful to you. First on the preseasoned meat you picked up, I can’t speak for every single store that sells this, but many stores offer this when they’re trying to sell meat that needs to go meaning it’s about to expire, so my personal opinion would be to just season it yourself so that you know it’s fresh and you know what you’re eating. Second was more of a question. You mentioned having access to plenty of milk on your farm which is AMAZING! So my question is why aren’t you making your own yogurt, farmers cheese (crumbly cheese) and butter. I know you mentioned it being a bit Of a pain on the butter, but I make it in my food processor and it’s super easy and hands off basically. The yogurt is also easy especially if you have an instant pot and the cheese is basically three ingredients (milk, vinegar, and salt). I feel so many foods are filled with chemicals and stuff that’s so bad for you so anytime I can make something from scratch I will definitely do it. This method has also reduced my grocery bill Tremendously. Again this is not meant as anything negative but more as just some helpful (hopefully) information
This is very much how I plan my meals. I buy the deals and plan around what we have. We had a baked potato bar yesterday. Chipped beef, cheese, tomatoes, sour cream, and such that needed cleaned out of our fridge. Would you mind sharing what planner you use? I'm still on the hunt for a perfect one.
My guess is that using a beef heart is similar to a deer heart - you need to take off any silver skin and cut out any hard parts like fat or arteries. I soak deer heart in marinade with coconut aminos, red wine vinegar, garlic, salt and pepper. I marinade mine for at least 24hrs and then I make sure it's sliced thin (about 3/4" and then I pan fry with some butter and fresh thyme until medium rare. If you get it right heart can be better than filet mignon.
Wonderful planning, this is very helpful! I have four nine years old and under as well and do you have any tips for getting some quiet as you do in this video? Do you do it during “quiet time” or send the kids to go play in the barn or hang with daddy doing his work or do you get a little help from someone who gives you a little quiet here and there as they love on your kiddos? Hugs!!! ❤
We are a family of 7. We shop at Walmart and costco. We spend around $500 a week. Thats supplies food water and when we buy stuff it goes over a bit. Meat is expensive. Once a year we buy a pig and butcher it. Sounds sad. Gross too. But it’s around $300 estimated a pig. Last us all year. I still buy store bought chicken also. Chicken is $25 per case at Costco. Thanks for sharing. I enjoy watching other people in their kitchen. Meal plan. Prep. Showing us what you have. Make more videos on you making dinner. Everyone in this house is picky and tired of the same food. I bought a few cookbooks and im always nervous to make something new. What if they dont like it.
I spend around 160 a week for family of 4. We live in city in Florida and i cook a lot almost all from scratch. I do spend much less when my kid is in college as he loves meet and the rest so much. But the prices are sky high. Dozen of eggs are more than 5$. You are a inspiration ❤
Steph, I am new to your channel and going through some of your videos. They are awesome. I really liked this one as you show your big haul and how you store it!!! I have a couple questions. One is when I freeze fruits like you have in the freezer I can't break the fruit up to make smoothies because it is as hard as a rock, so I buy the Costco frozen fruits. Other ? is on the meat, I was buying meat when on sale and freezing and it did not taste as fresh as buying for example at Costco and just cooking for that week. I am trying to cut costs as we are not a family of 6 anymore but 2 1/2!! Ha Ha My daughter is in medical school lives at home but sometimes with long hours she eats out. Thx in advance ps It is a beautiful to see in this day and age a Godly woman and a beautiful homemaker. I love all your principles!!
🍽️ I wish we had a store that sold food that way. It’s crazy how we can no longer afford what we could 3 years ago. We went to the grocery store last night and were shopping for Valentines Dinner, I looked at the beef steaks and had to stop myself because idk who can justify the pricing so it’s very interesting ( because we used to shop monthly but since 2020 started we can no longer afford to shop that way) is that there are stores that sell by the pound for such an affordable price. It would be a game changer if they had those in more areas because it would even be worth the drive to stock up.
Incredibly cheap for groceries! That’s so fantastic! Family of 6 here with teenage boy and girl, and then tween and younger. I’d say I spend around 150-200 a week depending a bit. I get an Azure Standard order from time to time and I stock up a lot at Aldi. Groceries have gone up SO much. And as my children have grown, they definitely are eating more. And I cook almost all of our meals here at home.
That's so inspiring, Sarah! I'm already noticing how much more food it takes than it used to, can't imagine what the teenage years will be like (I'm excited to find out though 😁). I've heard a lot of good things about Azure Standard but never actually shopped there!
Wow I just came upon your channel today for the first and am amazed that you have a Narvon address because we only live a mile from the post office! I was born and raised here and it is home to me ❤️. We just purchased my childhood home from my dad a year ago and he ended up passing this last December. I was curious where the discount store is that you went to because we have recently on down to one income because I left my job to care for my dad that was in hospice Care at our home, so I am always looking for ways I can save in our groceries. I often times go to Glenwood foods in Hinkletown or Ebenezer's in Denver. As far as our dinners, I just stocked up on a bunch of meat at Shady Maple when they had their meat sale last week and canned up a bunch of pork and chuck roast. I made some BBQ pork for sandwiches, Chipotle beef for tacos with homemade tortillas and homemade canned salsa, and don't get me started on the hot pepper jelly!! Every year I have to make my mom's recipe and can it, then we serve it over her homemade cheese ball over the holidays or at gatherings...it's so good!! Have you ever been to September Farm? They have the most amazing ice cream and cheese. We love going there for family date nights for ice cream. Blessings to you and your family and you channel! 😊❤️
Thanks, for sharing. We are grass fed beef farmers (we eat a ketovore diet ). Glad, were not spending $ on meat. We buy most of our chicken from our neighbors, A2 milk & eggs(all of the animals are pastured seasonally). We do eat some fruit & Intermitting fast, too.

Hey! Just found your Chanel and love your content. BEEF HEART is sooo delicious! You can made a seasoned flour with flour, salt, pepper, garlic and onion powder! Slice the heart and coat with seasoned flour and then fry! Mouth watering delicious! Please don’t be grossed out because it’s so amazing
We make sure at least a few times a month to make homemade pizzas. It’s better for you and a lot cheaper than take out or frozen pizza. Plus, there’s always leftovers in the fridge if someone wants a quick meal. Love your videos! 🍽! 🙂
Wow! I’m super impressed by all your freezer food storage. I bet that helps so much! I only have my drawer freezer that’s attached for my fridge and with 3 teenage boys I feel like a deep freezer would be so helpful so I’m not running to the store all of the time. We spend about $200/week on groceries and about $80 on meat.
What a true blessing to you and your family. We are located in Dauphin county, PA and would love more information on the grocery store you were shopping in today's video.

Loved the video! 🍽 Always happy to glean ideas for meal planning & grocery shopping. 😊 Curious about a once a month grocery haul..does your fresh produce last to the end of the month, or how do you work with that?
Thank you! I think we definitely eat more fresh produce toward the beginning of the month, but normally at least something will last till we go again or I pick up a few salad ingredients to hold us over 😊
I just found your channel and already in love with it! I am curious about the grocery store you shopped and volunteered. Can you post the name of it? Just curious because it sounds wonderful!

You’re truly blessed that you live on a farm and have access to so many healthy food sources . You are an inspiration . I’ve always wanted to live on a farm . Not a working farm , just a farmhouse and a few sweet animals to take care of ! I love love your lifestyle . 🥰🥰🥰PS I really like that music you put in your videos Golden ? Can you tell me what the title is please ! I’d like to use it as well . Epidemic sound ?
I would love to have a place like that to grocery shop at. So neat. We grow our own vegetables and buy our meats and dairy local. We live rural in NC and try to stay away from processed foods as much as possible. That leads me to sugar free, I will only buy sugar free if Xylitol is the sweetener, no Aspartame or Sucralose is purchased here, the side effects of those is very scary. Can you recommend other healthier sweetners? ❤

Once brown and onions are sauteed then add seasonings salt, pepper, and tomato juice.
Cover and let simmer for awhile until the soup is thick.
Heat up corn tortillas and add your heart meat, avacado or mayo is good on that as well.

You are an amazing homemaker, Steph, and a real inspiration!
More meal plans ❤your family are truly blessed. That Deer Bologna I'm curious to know the taste of I'm a NJ but, I love food up in Lancaster area in Pa. Unable to travel by car places for cheaper foods ATM so when I am finally able that's a blessing.
Thank you so much for sharing this. I always get great ideas from you here.
Your are so kind, Debbra 💗 thank you!
I know you mentioned it being a bit
Of a pain on the butter, but I make it in my food processor and it’s super easy and hands off basically.
I am interested in knowing what type of meal planning notebook you use as well.
My husband is from Reading, PA. ❤ his beef heart! Grosses me out too! Two words: pressure cooker.
I absolutely love beef heart! Cook it like a roast! It’s so divine!
Hope's Table by Hope Helmuth is also a wonderful cookbook.
Was so fun seeing your Blessings of Hope haul!!
Whenever my friends or family tell me about deals they got at Blessings, I always can’t help but say, “what a blessing!” 😉
I spend around 160 a week for family of 4. We live in city in Florida and i cook a lot almost all from scratch. I do spend much less when my kid is in college as he loves meet and the rest so much. But the prices are sky high. Dozen of eggs are more than 5$. You are a inspiration ❤
🍽️ thank you for sharing!
🍽️ loved this video!! These are goals that one day will be fulfilled here! Your food is my favourite from all social media platforms ❤
Oh my goodness Lisa, you are so kind! Thank you 💗
I really enjoy this type of video! Thank you for sharing❤
Glad you enjoyed!
🍽
Rao's marinara with grass fed beef. Salad with lots of veggies. Garli butter on toast.
Beef heart is oh SO GOOD!!!!! It took a little getting used to, but it’s delicious the way my husband grew up eating it!
Never thought about getting sales then creating a meal prep 🤔that’s smart! Lol 💕
Thank you 😊
Sweet and sour meatballs, rice,& salad then tonight we are having peach shortcake of course whipped cream.
I enjoy your videos so much!
What do you do for Sunday dinner?
🍽 Loved your video; I have had terrible motivation to meal plan this week so this was good for me. Another idea would be a winter morning routine or day in the life.
Thank you, Erica 💗
Our meals for the week:
Chicken pot pie soup w buttermilk biscuits
Shrimp Fettuccine Alfredo w salad
Carne Asada street tacos (steak)
Teriyaki Chicken Meatballs w rice and veggies
Pizza ☺️☺️
Oh yum, that sounds delicious 😋
oh yum, homemade pizza is so tasty!
🍽️
Have blessed week
Loved the freezer tour I also shop the way you do I see what deals I can get them plan around what I have
Love it!!
It makes SUCH a difference!
What a true blessing to you and your family. We are located in Dauphin county, PA and would love more information on the grocery store you were shopping in today's video.
Thank you! We were shopping at Blessings of Hope 😊
Is there a membership? Is the grocery store open to the public?
@@kathybigelow8379 If you google Blessings of Hope you can read about the volunteer working shifts you can sign up for and after you work then it looks like you can shop. I'm definitely thinking of participating!
🍽 yes!
I missed it! Where did you go grocery shopping? It sounds delightful! A large family momma's dream! Just pay by the pound.
Thank you enjoyed this 🦴🍽️
Thank you, Susan 💗
Saint Andre cheese is to die for!!! Our fav
I enjoy your videos! Ty!
Thank you, Danilee 💗
Tonight we had grilled chicken tacos! It may still be winter, but the tacos made it feel like summertime and they were delicious and easy!
🍽️
Loved the video! 🍽 Always happy to glean ideas for meal planning & grocery shopping. 😊 Curious about a once a month grocery haul..does your fresh produce last to the end of the month, or how do you work with that?
Thank you! I think we definitely eat more fresh produce toward the beginning of the month, but normally at least something will last till we go again or I pick up a few salad ingredients to hold us over 😊
@@thisgoldenhour ok, good to know! Def want to try stocking up a bit more but that always throws me off. 😆 Thanks!
I just found your channel and already in love with it! I am curious about the grocery store you shopped and volunteered. Can you post the name of it? Just curious because it sounds wonderful!
I got a couple of those seasoned young chickens. I wish I would've gotten lots more. They were amazing and can be used for so many different dishes
I really enjoyed this video btw!! I shop and cook very similarly and grocery shop the exact stores😃 now I just want some of those cookbooks
I just found your channel on youtube and one of the first videos that I watched was the grocery haul. Could you please tell me the name of the store that you were shopping at for your monthly grocery haul and meal planning?
Ooh the St Andre is a type of Brie!! It is delicious!
How do you keep bugs out of that brown sugar in the bag?
Wow ! I have no words . You are truly a super mom !!! I commend you with all the love you have for your family !
You are so kind, thank you 🥰
It is from epidemic sound- Golden Things is the last one she uses. 😉
@@sarahsheartshome thanks so much Sarah😘
LOL...my freezer has 3 beef hearts in it at the moment! I feel your pain!😆
Meatballs, lentil stew, butter chicken and curry on the menu this week! Love cooking too! So much fun
Oh yum 😋
You even look beautiful going to the grocery store! I'm always looking like a hot mess when I go grocery shopping. 😆
aww you are so kind! I try to "dress well" every day, but trust me, I often end up with messy hair and stained clothes 😅
My parents live in your area and my mom just recently went to this store with a friend of hers. 😀
My recipe for beef heart is to feed it to my dog as a very special gourmet meal for him. 🙂
Love to see videos like this. 🍽
Thank you, Andrea 💗
Do you keep all the salad product in your fridge? Or do you freeze some of it?
I enjoyed this video, like to see more
Carnitas out of wild pork shoulder. Roasted mushroom herb chicken. Spaghetti and meatballs. And a round shoulder roast.
