  • Beginners guide to stamping. I found learning to stamp really difficult and frustrating partly because I was using the wrong products and not using right techniques. So I thought I would make a video on my tips to help you on your stamping journey, plus products I would recommend that are going to help you learn to stamp with less frustration.
    Please note: This is just my personal preference and experience with stamping i'm not saying that because you buy these products that you stamp perfectly from your first attempt. When you are learning anything new it takes time to master it and you will need to practice practice practice. but I personally think these products can you help you.

    To get the image to transfer no matter how long you wait, apply a thin coat of base coat like Orly Bonder or Yellow stopper to your nail before you stamp. You must let it dry first but the very slight tackiness will have the entire image transferring! Can't take credit for this but I wanted to share. Give it a go. (It was Twi_Star who shared that tip). I'm happy about this because I had some expensive stamping polishes from Australia that I had put up for the longest time because they dried super fast. Now I can use them! Thanks for a great video. As a follow on from my previous message. THANK YOU! It worked perfectly! All the hints and tips you gave worked amazingly. I've watched other beginners video but still failed and watched yours and hep presto, a gorgeous pretty, clear image! I'm now sitting here with my lovely fav bright pink nails and a silver lace effect on my ring fingers. Plus I had bought a black stamping polish to try it but decided to have a play with my ordinary polishes and the silver is number 17 polish I've had for years. I'm tickled pink! Thank you so much again!

    An extra tip for beginners who are on a budget: check if your old regular polishes are worthy for stamping. Nail polishes that are opaque and are one-coaters are generally work well. I find that the Sally Hansen Insta-dri polishes are good for stamping. 😊😄

    • @Gelulicious
      @Gelulicious  7 років тому +2

      Yes great tip, although Sally Hansen Instadry are not highly pigmented so won't stamp well over black. Thanks for watching xoxo

    • @Kalleesto
      @Kalleesto 6 років тому +4

      Some of them are but where they're not all you have to do is add the tiniest amount of white and voila - they translate perfectly over black.

      This is a great idea because the old ones get too thick to polish with maybe they will be good for stamping!

    Thank you for doing this video! I completely agree can be so frustrating seeing other people stamp perfectly without any problems making it look super easy, I'm still struggling now with stamping 😒 lol xx

      Well just kept at it Hun, trust me I understand the frustration only to well to the point where I nearly gave up on it all together. But that's why I highlighted how important it is having the right tools to start off it doesn't mean you will stamp perfectly from the get go but it will definitely help you. Thanks for watching xoxo

    I'm so happy that someone finally made such a video! I've seen so many videos "how to stamp" and most of them only recommend one technique, labeling it as "the best" and I've tried so many different techniques and in the end found out that just because one thing works best for someone, doesn't necessarily mean it will work for everyone! So I was thinking about making a video like that to say that there is no one "best way", it all depends on the person's preference. So when I say your video it made me really happy! It was high time someone said "find what works best for you, I'm just giving you tips" :D So kudos from me for that!

      Ah thank you so much that's lovely to hear. I tried to do it exactly that way because of having the same frustrations starting out with stamping myself and Obv ones that have got used to stamping make it look so easy and I remember getting so frustrated trying to do exactly what they did and it wouldn't work. Also as well I wanted to give a few options for products to buy that personally helped me starting out. You def get your own way of stamping and products you prefer. Thanks for watching xoxo

    Thanks so much for this. I think I understand what I've been doing wrong. Ive been pressing to hard and going straight down when trying to pick up the image. I do papercrafting and stamping with that so assumed it would be the same and that I would be a dab hand as I'm so used to stamping. Lol no way. Out of 10 or so tries I got 1 half way passable image I was so frustrated! Going to try again tomorrow to see if I can improve. I bought a born pretty kit with 2 plates and double ended clear stamper, scraper and stamping polish. If I don't get a clear image tomorrow I'll buy the stamper you recommended. I also didn't know they came in different sizes! I probably need a med one. Tfs!

    You are SO right! I actually got a cheap stamping set years ago and I got so frustrated that I didn't touch it for years! About 2 years ago, I started watching stamping videos and I picked it up again. If I had seen this video then, it would have made such a difference! I'm waiting for my nail artisan order and I'm so excited! I agree that BM is great! I don't own any Moyou London, yet. 😆

Who would have thought nail art would be such a dog eat dog world 😂 but I always credit where I got my inspiration from as I don’t think it’s fair that people take credit for designs or techniques that they didn’t come up with. As a stamping newbie I keep researching...my Hubby got me a major stamping supplies birthday haul but I do have a questions that will be a greatly appreciated help!..Many are using the Mr Clean Magic Eraser to clean stamping plates & I have also heard of the lint roller or clear packing tape on stampers..on the flip side some say these all leave a residue (I have 3 different size clear jelly stampers) Also as a newbie I realize I'll have to move faster using nail polish on plates as opposed to stamping polish..so that's making me nervous! Please help & advise with your expert opinion!!
    Happy Holidays! 🎅🎄⛄

    • @Gelulicious
      @Gelulicious  7 років тому +2

      Reena Purdy I hadn't even heard of the magic eraser to clean plates, so you teaching me things 😂 I personally use acetone and cotton pads to clean my plates and that seems to work fine for me. I use a lint roller to clean all stampers, every now and then I put some acetone on a lint pad and wipe over my clear jelly stampers to remove any residue.
      I'm not 100% sure what your asking about polish? Sorry. Thanks for watching xoxo

    • @reenapurdy3923
      @reenapurdy3923 7 років тому

      Glad I could help..I guess lol magic eraser is a super fine cleaning sponge that u can clean ANYTHING with..even sneakers & walls! Thanx so much for advice on keeping my stamper up to par💖
      The polish question was using nail polish on your stamping plate as opposed to specific stamping polish which I heard dries slower & provides a cleaner, clearer cripser image..I'm going to try just regular polish as I heard the best one comes from Mexico & takes a long time to US (it starts w/an "M" can't remember exact name!😣)
      Your answers plus video & user comments gave me more confidence already..I'm not going to be perfect right away so patience & keep trying is the key & what I learned today in the stamping world!
      Thanx tons & huge hugs..I'll keep watching your videos!💖

    what do you use to clean the plate each time?? you mention a lint roller for the stamper?

    • @Gelulicious
      @Gelulicious  7 років тому +2

      Kerrie Rose I use nail polish remover mainly.But if the plate seems more dirty I will use acetone which is stronger. Xoxo

    I just got my stamping kit today, never stamped before. I know I need to practice but have I bought the wrong stamping plates. They are born pretty with a clear stamper. Please help, I’m not getting any transfer to the stamper off the plate. Maybe I’m not putting enough polish on to start with.

    • @Gelulicious
      @Gelulicious  5 років тому

      A clear Stamper believe it or not isn’t the best Stamper to start Stamping with straight away. I would get a sticky squishy Stamper as it will help pick up the image. Obv I can’t see your stamping style so it’s difficult for me to give you specific advice. You need to work quickly as stamping polish can dry quickly. You may just need to practice loads, it took me a long time to finally have the eureka moment, but once you get it, there will be no stopping you. Thanks for watching xoxo

      I bought the same stamper haha born pretty stamper, stamping plate and stamping polish. It took me a few tries. What I was doing wrong was scraping too hard and pressing the stamper onto the image to hard. Try scraping gently and pressing lightly with your stamper

    Do you know if there is a US seller for the NAIL ARTISAN Stamper? On their site it looked like it would cost me L68.00 to get one from them. I've always loved seeing you use yours, looks amazing. This is a excellent video. I wish I had seen it years ago when I first got into stamping, it would have saved me loads of frustration. TFS. TTYL, my friend.

      It doesn't cost that much. This is what Alex sent me when I enquired about postage.
      "The reason that charge is in place is due to nail polishes only being able to be sent via courier. The total cost for the stamper with international signed for with tracking is £20.25 and they can email me directly on nailartisan@btinternet.com with their choice of colour and PayPal address and I can then send them an invoice. Unfortunately this system isn't allowing me to offer various option on shipping international xx"
      Plus I don't think they have a us distributer at the mo but you could ask her.
      Thanks for watching xoxo

    Im sure that Nail Artisan Stamper is the best and your demo proved it, but when I went to purchase it was shocked that it was US$36 and that didn't include shipping. Too rich for me 😢

      It’s not that much money, it’s just they way it’s put on their store for some reason. If you message Alex she will give you a correct price. Thanks for watching xoxo

    I have a "sticky" marshmallow stamper.. it wont pick up..i was told to buff it. Still wouldn't pick up

    • @Gelulicious
      @Gelulicious  7 років тому

      Ashley Lowe What brand is the sticky stamper? You shouldn't buff stampers especially new ones that are coming out now, they come ready to use, then may need to be wiped with isopropyl alcohol and lint free pad but that's it for priming. Xoxo

    • @staceylowe6758
      @staceylowe6758 7 років тому

      Honestly, theres no brand. Its a sticky marshmallow stamper... got it from wish app. My other stampers work fine... but the one i had most hope for just wont pick up.

      Ashley Lowe Well I'm stumped, as I've not used that stamper or had any issues with my other sticky stampers I don't know what to advise. Maybe it's just not a very good stamper. Did you contact the company about it?I fear buffing it may have trashed it though Hun. I'm not on FB so no 😂 xoxo

      I do not even have a great stamp, Born Pretty. One sticky seal is not good either. It works better with cheaper small rubber seals.
      Several pieces are stamped, the same is not good ever.
      I believe now that he advertise here who gets free product. Welcome
      thx
