For a cleaner way of filling the bag, put the tip in a tall cup, and fold the sides over the cup, then spoon it in, holding on and pressing the sides of the bag.
a trick for the icing bag is to put it in a cup so it sits upright and then spoon the icing in. That way you dont have to hold the bag at the same time. It just makes it a bit easier

Shortening is a butter substitute that is creamer. It isn't as good as bitter when making icing. It has a waxy after taste. (LIKE chocolate glaze donuts) Butter is, well... butter!

Trick: to get the icing in the bag easier you line the outside of a cup with a piping bag, and you just scoop the icing into the cup, which is lined with a bag, so it goes into the bag and there isn't icing all up the side of the bag 😉😉
