why don't your missiles lose their targets when you aim your radar at another plane? Why does the Fox-2 missile behave like a Fox-3 missile? In ARB, as soon as I lock on to another target, the missile loses its initial guidance
Missiles behave differently based on their guidance systems: Fox-3 (active radar) Tracks independently after launch, so switching radar targets won’t affect it. Fox-2 (infrared) Locks onto heat signatures and doesn’t rely on radar after launch. SARH (semi-active radar) Requires your radar lock; switching targets causes it to lose guidance.
Arigato, bro. Aim-7f is SARH, right? I'm trying to understand how (at 4:08) your missile hit the enemy F-104G when you switched target to another F-104? As far as I know, Aim-7f has no inertial guidance and the missile must have lost targeting to the first F-104G
