I was surprised that the land navigation was not that much weighted. The Army made a big deal about land Navigation at OCS after the Jessica Lynch incident with the company commander who could not read a map. A few years ago there was a big Land NAV cheating scandal with 2LT’s at TBS Including Academy graduates & Quite a number were kicked out of USMC. I became a Army Aviation Warrant Officer by the way as a USMC SGT in Aviation Ordnance. I remember hustling in Land Navigation at Fort Rucker AL in WOC Pre-Flight making with about 15 minutes to spare while running the whole time. The most challenging navigation is Low level flight with a 50,000 scale Artillery map At 90knots of airspeed witch is 3 km per minute & Knowing where you are within 100 meters, NVG’S raise the difficulty. Class 86-5 Navy Blue hats, Retired USAR CW3.

This is an outstanding series available to aspiring Marine Officers. Sure wish it was available to me way back in 1972 when I did my first summer at PLC, Camp Upshur, Quantico, VA. We didn't have a clue what we had in store for us at the time! S/F
