Hey man great video. While I find how little rail we’re building depressing. I have hope that we will start more projects in the future before 2050. I also wanted to mention according to the Bay Area ferry 2050 plan they plan to have service every 15 minutes on some routes and have ferries that run across the whole bay. They are also gonna try to make it so the sf ferry building isn’t the only ferry connection and make it so you can take a ferry from Oakland to Vallejo or Redwood City to Oakland or even San Jose to Oakland. It’s pretty interesting and you should read it. I also believe that in the future the valley link light rail will expand to the San Ramon valley filling in a large gap in the network since San Ramon is more close to dublin and livermore than the Bay Area.
That was a great thumbnail history of BART, most of which I hadn't known. Many thanks. I'm guessing the original, lofty plans were made for several reasons, one may have been to make it huge in the beginning so it requires boat loads of bucks and then scale it back once the voters start whining about costs. Seriously, I hadn't known that BART was originally planned with such lofty goals. Hey, I really look forward to the episode about your take on all this. Have you thought of a call in podcast where we could all join in the bitching and offer our solutions? Capitol Corridor (by amtrack, serves sacramento with 6+ round trips/day). ACE train serves stockton with 3 trains a day, but commuters need to shuttle to connect to BART.

The bart is sometimes referred as a light rail train, but it is technically a rapid transit train and not light rail.
