  • Very fortunate to have Rawiri Waititi on the Planting Seeds podcast this week fro the very first in person episode since March 2020.
There is so much rich and beautiful korero shared right throughout this podcast from the truth of being Māori, moving forward honouring the Treaty of Waitangi and the shift in awareness that is occuring.
    Hope you enjoy this episode!

Hi! I am new to this awesome community and I am really grateful to be able to see this video! I am not a Maori or from New Zealand, but I really enjoy learning about the rich culture of the Maori and New Zealand. I am excited to continue to learn more!
I really enjoyed learning about the Tangata Tiriti. It makes me think a lot about how in America, we are almost making a treaty with Black people and other people of color through BLM protests and council meetings, to create a system of support for these people, yet we have nothing in the news for Native Americans.
We still actively believe in separatism which is expressed through the continued promotion of Native American Reservations, which is terrible. I am excited to learn more about the revolution of the Tangata Tiriti and see where this concept can be adapted and implemented in the States, to potentially create a more One people world.

New is it , as a basic rule , never do a deal with a Maori . 4 % are awesome people the rest are happy to plague you with their needs without consideration for you...
caution.. Rich history ? don't be confused . 6th word Basic ,is the reality,
trade in slaves , heads and woman may not be unusual ,demanding them back again is .. Life lesson .No is key.

Oh wow!!! Tangata Tiriti resonates with me far more than 'pakeha'. Relationship rather than partnership... MAGIC!!! Regeneration rather than sustainability!!! Pure gold!!! If Captain Cook had decided to follow the ways of the Maaori way back then, we would be living a paradise in paradise now!!! This is an exciting space to be in!!! Kia kaha Rawiri!!!!

You should be proud to be maori/ just like you should be proud to be European/ chinese/whatever your race ALL have something unique to offer how about starting to respect each other and whatever their culture offers. European in history have their story also of what happened to them via Maori way back in the years. Let's get on with life going forward

Tena rawa atu kōrua mō te kōrero nei kei whea mai. Some whakaaro im taking away from this kōrero..We whakamana Te Tiriti o Waitangi by claiming tino rangatiratanga, becoming tino rangatiratanga, then share it..because relationship is key we create & share space with Tangata Tiriti to participate in claiming & becoming tino rangatiratanga. He iwi kōtahi nō AOTEAROA 😄 Yesterday I was
speaking to a Tangata Tiriti friend she described her feeling, her own sense of of belonging to this whenua, and I felt my heart open and connect with her. Her sense of belonging felt the same as mine. It coud not be denied nor taken away. Ngā mihi

Using sentences like them and us is not really appreciate it by a lot of people.
Don't get me wrong I respect Maori and what they are as a population.
On a lot of insta new the history teach us diffrent things and probably a lot of people have no idea about it and need to be teach as such.
For Example the name for New Zealand as Aotearoa has nothing to do with Maori history and belongings, basically was used by a a novelist in his description of the country.
Iam coming from a blood line of Getae and Dacians and our history goes back as far as 7BC .
Good to know your roots and where you belong but most of the modern history is made up anyway to suit some individuals.
Appreciate and support the minorities in protect their identity and teach the young the right thing, however totally against the terms US and THEM. Without being united the only thing we going to achieve will be divisions and our ancestors hard work to unify will be for nothing.....just saying

    • @jeanne2393

just saying how a small ego has been affected by the concept of a Tiriti-centric decoloniallly construed Aotearoa. if you have a problem with the Us versus them approach, go take issue with the crown and the colonialist government, starting from the cunning conniving rascals who conned Māori leaders and messed up Te Tiriti. Divisions are already there and take issue with the crown re them.
