How not? This beautiful woman was one of the most popular black female recording artists of the 1950s. I'm sure the people of her era gave her, her flowers and she got the credit she deserved.
Today my beautiful mother passed away, I grew up listening to her singing Dinah Washington, and this song was one of her favorite's, and unforgettable, she was going to be 90 years old in march, she introduced all of her daughter's to the most beautiful singer's from her area, now I sing them too, and she would say sing unforgettable for me ...I'd say sing it with me mum.
1964 I am 5 yrs old momma would send us outside on Saturday so she could mop the floors! She would put 33 1/3 LP albums and sing along to songs like this! I’m 65 now wish I could hear momma singing along with this one! Lord knows how I miss her!
Nov 2023 and I heard the beginning of this song in an AirBnB commercial and it captivated me. I memorized the first two lines, searched for it, and here I am. What a beautiful song, what beautiful voice❤️
Same here! Probably the same add. Rare occasion when a UA-cam add peaks my interest. Music used in the add made me turn around as I walked away from TV. Had to look it up based on a bit of the lyrics.

Started off this NY a bit blue having lost a dream. Praying daily and things just started coming my way! I had a huge career day on 1/11 seeing 11s all day!! This song popped into my head after another huge meeting today and it is the truth. No matter how bad things get or how dark it seems don’t give up! Right around the corner could be the biggest opportunity or the happiest day and no one is worth you being sad over. Have no idea why I wanted to share this but I did! Thank you so much for this song it will become my anthem. Wishing everyone all the best ❤

We so forget as a culture what love is...so absorbed in narcissism and delusion. We need perfection like this to Remind us what we should aspire too....thank you Dinah
Growing up in the 50s and 60s Dinah Washington was one of my favorite singers She had a beautiful voice There were so many of them There will never be music like that again Rock and Roll .Doo Wop .Blues. Motown and the British Invasion God I mis those days
I'm 66 and and we have so much music we can remember. I had a young mother so I was surrounded with all the music from the 50s and on. I tell people I go back to when 'rock-and-roll' was first invented!!! Dinah Washington was like no other and thank God I can now go on to Spotify and listen to her collection whenever I want.

She was a wonderful singer and it is sad that we lost her at such an young age. She was one of the Rhythm and Blues Ladies that we no longer will have again.
Like Billie Holiday, Dinah lived and loved hard, and left us far too soon. Can you imagine a duet of the two up in Heaven? My oh my. Thank you for blessing us with your talent on this Earth for the short while you were here, ladies.
Hello, I'm spanish and my english is very limited, sorry about that, but what you have written is really beautiful. True, Dinah and Billie died too soon. They were extraordinary. Regards, good night.
"first take" artist “She had a voice that was like the pipes of life. She could take any melody in her hand, hold it like an egg, crack it open, fry it, let it sizzle, reconstruct it, put the egg back in the box and back in the refrigerator, and you would’ve still understood every single syllable of every single word she sang. Every single melody she sang she made hers. Once she put her soulful trademark on a song, she owned it and it was never the same.” ~ Quincy Jones ~

I will always remember this song with a tear in my eye. My mother loved this song and taught me how to two-step to it. I can still remember her telling me how to hold a dance partner and move to the rhythm. Later, the very title became sage advice, telling me to see how things come out rather than to be impulsive. "What a difference a day makes," she'd tell me. Maybe one day I'll get to two-step with her again, and Miss Dinah will be singing.
There is a lovely cafe near where i live, the walls are covered in photos of how the place looked when it first opened which was in the 1920’s and they play slow love songs like this and the place always makes me fall more in love with the roaring twenties and songs like this ❤️
My aunt would play this song every time I was in her apartment on her stereo! I fell in love with it the first time I heard it! Still singing it today at 72 years old. Rest In Peace Ms. Washington..
I remember hearing this as small child in the 60's. My mom would listen to this type of music and pass it on to me. growing up listening to Big Band, crooners, and music from the 50's and on. I'm 63 years young. I'm like my grandpa. he love all kind of music. he also dislike some, but he was open. I'm the same way. but today's music I can't seem to listen to them. I tried it's hard on the ears.

@DeGrate1896 I disagree. I am hard of hearing, unless I'm looking right at you. Lyrics are important to me, and I am always grateful for subtitles. But you are right. Her enunciation is impeccable.
It would be wonderful if today's singers could follow Dinah's style- the way she articulated each lyric beautifully, along with her rich and mellow tone making each song she sang a masterpiece.❤ And the arrangements of her songs (not sure who it was) added to the overall magnificence of Dinah.
Your comments are Perfect just the Excellent quality we need to hear. The lyrics, emotional essence and Quality of Voice. We truly appreciate these artist and Nothing Today Compares😊😅🎉😂❤
Beautiful song and one that brings to my memory how my life changed after I married. After that night i woke up and found my wife sleeping at my side. Goodbye lonelyness I thought and felt quite happy. Its been ofver 32 years since then but I still remember.
What a truly beautiful thing to say, not only that, but had no qualms telling the world, what a lovely man, Mrs Rodas, you are one lucky woman......................
I remember my mama and daddy slow dancing across wood floors to this song. We had a Grundig Majestic German-made stereo daddy bought in Chicago. What a beautiful, vivid memory. Both are gone now. 😢
Thank for the memories on an era not appreciated by todays times. I make an effort to bring it to kids and have them listen to it while I'm trying to hold to it as long as I can!
Just think: Back in those days there were no formal "Voice Lessons" and frequently no Academic Music Theory Classes for Poor, Southern, Blacks. The lessons they learned in Church were their beginnings and their way out of poverty. Dinah showed what could be done with her unique voice and phrasing. Beautiful, Gone too Soon!!
SMRNY 910 ~~ Right!! And just think -- She did not have to get NAKED to put her talent over. Thank God for recordings! Her "Pure unadulterated talent" is STILL Good!
+SMRNY 910 omg these freakin comments. Dinah had a great voice sure, but so do a thousand other singers in every generation, including this one. You might not like Adele or Britney Spears or whatever but don't deny that they can sing their asses off. Lady Gaga singing the national anthem at the super bowl? People love to believe that anything older is better.
+kevdawg55 First, Adele is a phoney! A Brit singing in a pseudo American accent, and please don't mention Britney, Lady Gaga etc in the same breath as Dinah. If you can't hear the difference, well...
musik102 ~~ I somewhat agree...that the resonance from the Caucasian's vocal chords and nasal passages sounds different than the sounds of the African American. But, many Whites react the same way to Blacks singing the Italian Operas! We have choices...and freedom of choice!!
This song was one of my Mother's favorites. She would sing and hum it. Especially when she was upset or annoyed. It is like time is frozen with good music. You remember every little detail and every emotion lingers in your heart ,Soul and mind like the taste of a dine meal.
And I heard this song in Januari 2024, I'm 81 , it makes me sometimes sad to hear this song.

I'm 64 years old and as a child I used to love hearing my mother sing this song. I love this song even then. It sounds beautiful today. That was talent I don't know what it's called today but then that was talent
I am 57 years old and from Norway. I think you will like this young girl from Norway? She make me cry! ua-cam.com/video/ZSfgCIGd7k4/v-deo.html&ab_channel=TV2
Hearing this song takes me back to the 1960's when I was in high school. Loved it then and still love it today.
That “breakup” commercial definitely bought me here lol love this song ❤
My wife and I have just celebrated our golden jubilee of marriage 50 unbroken together. I am in love with this song ❤
What a nice of you, Dinah! I just remember the day I met my wife. I was so nervous to
tell her "I love her". Dinah's song pushed my back. I'm leading a happy life with her now.
Thank you Dinah!
We so forget as a culture what love is...so absorbed in narcissism and delusion. We need perfection like this to Remind us what we should aspire too....thank you Dinah
so true i'm so glad i'm not the only one who thinks this (:
This was passion not about selling your soul for the money.
I 2nd this GREAT SINGER AND THIS SONG.
My grandmother loved this song. Played this many times for her after her stroke in her final weeks. ❤
Here from Fallout TV Series. What a show.
Same!
My jaw was on the fucking floor when this started playing when they went back into the cleaned up vault
@@piss-off-peter2972I'm on that episode rn and I'm in awe bro
Fascinating series and some amazing music. I'm really enjoying it.
First time I heard this was on "Chungking Express" and instantly fell in love and so when Fallout used it, I was in absolute tears with joy
One of the best "torch" songs. Her voice was pure magic. Talent never to be seen or heard again. A legend Dinah will always be.
Look at Angelina Jordan ( 8 years old)
She was born to sing this song! She owns it completely. Definitely one of my favorites of classic jazz.
They don't make them like Dinah anymore. She has been an inspiration to so many of us singers.
I closed my eyes and listened to Angelina Jordan live performance of this song. To this date it hasn’t sunk in how this 8 years old Norwegian girl standing alone on a stage in the middle of a sea of people and singing in a language other than her mother tongue and delivering a performance that seasoned singers only dream of. ua-cam.com/video/ZSfgCIGd7k4/v-deo.html
Yeah. You are right Dinah amazing singer... Gwyn how are you doing?

Google just honored the composer Maria Grever today. First time hearing this, this is nice
She was a wonderful singer and it is sad that we lost her at such an young age. She was one of the Rhythm and Blues Ladies that we no longer will have again.
😂😂😂
Im young, and seeing all these old people with so many memories resembling to this song, honestly, warms my heart
I loved Dinah Washington's singing, and I heard this song on the radio in the late 1950s
Like Billie Holiday, Dinah lived and loved hard, and left us far too soon. Can you imagine a duet of the two up in Heaven? My oh my. Thank you for blessing us with your talent on this Earth for the short while you were here, ladies.
dreamboynyc2 2a
dreamboynyc2 yes definitely in heaven singing there hearts out
dreamboynyc2 so very true - magic
Hello, I'm spanish and my english is very limited, sorry about that, but what you have written is really beautiful. True, Dinah and Billie died too soon. They were extraordinary. Regards, good night.
Well said that man, they will be making the most wonderful music in heaven.
Can’t remember when was the fist time I heard this song, I was a kid n Mexico then. I’m 57 now and just keep loving this song
Once she put her soulful trademark on a song, she owned it and it was never the same.”
~ Quincy Jones ~
Said perfectly!
Makes my ears smile.........................
What a fantastic description by Quincy Jones. Thank you!
Hello Jasmine. Sorry for intruding in your privacy, I just want to know if you're a fan?

My dad use to play this everyday. Loved it. Him and my mom use to dance to it all the time. That's when love was so pure so real. Miss those days
Dinah Washington was reincarnated in this Norwegian 8 years old Angelina Jordan.

My dad had this album and listen to this quite often. It brings back a lot of childhood memories.
I miss you dad.❤
Google Doodle lead me here today. Thank you Marie Grever for composing this classic, and thank you Dinah Washington for your beautiful interpretation of it.
I heard this song on a series today, I immediately fell in love and had to search for it. Wow, just wow!❤
Is the series "Bodies" by any chance"?

Bodies brought me here. I'm 45, and I've never heard this song before. Shame on me.
What a beautiful song. Sung by a lovely talented lady. I grew up listening to this song with my mom and grandmother. Still wonderful to hear after all these years.Thank you for sharing 🙏🏾

Better than ANY cover, the timing is superlative. God bless you Dinah, RIP
There is a lovely cafe near where i live, the walls are covered in photos of how the place looked when it first opened which was in the 1920’s and they play slow love songs like this and the place always makes me fall more in love with the roaring twenties and songs like this ❤️
One of the most beautiful songs ever written & no one can sing it like Dinah Washington. She owns this one for sure!
Truly queen of blues.

What a difference a day makes
Twenty-four little hours
Brought the sun and the flowers
Where there used to be rain
My yesterday was blue, dear
Today I'm a part of you, dear
My lonely nights are through, dear
Since you said you were mine
What a difference a day makes
There's a rainbow before me
Skies above can't be stormy
Since that moment of bliss, that thrilling kiss
It's heaven when you find romance on your menu
What a difference a day made
And the difference is you
What a difference a day makes
There's a rainbow before me
Skies above can't be stormy
Since that moment of bliss, that thrilling kiss
It's heaven when you find romance on your menu
What a difference a day made
And the difference is you
Timeless.
Lying in my bed at 10 pm.
This song has taken me to another place, another Grace.

@DeGrate1896 I disagree. I am hard of hearing, unless I'm looking right at you. Lyrics are important to me, and I am always grateful for subtitles. But you are right. Her enunciation is impeccable.
Mon cœur explose d amour pour vous Madame Dinah Washington... Quand je vous ecoute... Merciiiii pour ce bonheur❤❤❤
One of the greatest songs ever written and sung, and from a Golden era of music.
Arguable but I must agree it is a superb song with beautiful vocals.

Wow. Dinah sweet memories... How are you doing Evelyn?
Aug. 29: Happy birthday Ms Dinah Washington (1924-1963) R.I.P. and God bless.
I remember my mama and daddy slow dancing across wood floors to this song. We had a Grundig Majestic German-made stereo daddy bought in Chicago. What a beautiful, vivid memory. Both are gone now. 😢
You painted a beautiful scene of your mom and dad, dancing, heartwarming❤️
Thank for the memories on an era not appreciated by todays times. I make an effort to bring it to kids and have them listen to it while I'm trying to hold to it as long as I can!
Feel lucky that my parents had such good taste in music and was brought up listening to music like this.
Every time my mother got into one of her 'moods' she would play this song.
So were mine.
Elaine Dennis same! I have such musical memories thanks to the big old stereo in my mothers living room
Yes very good parenting indeed quality song.
Wow I can now add this to my worship song list. Jesus you're the difference and what a difference you've made to my life.
immaculate recording. I can't get enough of it.
Her voice is a velvet for my soul.....Just one of the goodest of this small universe.
Hello friend, how are you doing today???
Just think: Back in those days there were no formal "Voice Lessons" and frequently no Academic Music Theory Classes for Poor, Southern, Blacks. The lessons they learned in Church were their beginnings and their way out of poverty. Dinah showed what could be done with her unique voice and phrasing. Beautiful, Gone too Soon!!
It is called TALENT! We don't get much of that these days. Pure unadulterated talent. Dinah had it in abundance.
+kevdawg55
First, Adele is a phoney!
I can remember my mother playing this song she has passed away now but I still have this record it's a beautiful memory.
Heard this for the first time today 4/12/24. I’m almost 60. Just heard it on Bodies. Great song
