In this mewing tutorial I go over proper tongue placement at rest and how to mew properly when swallowing.
In order to find where the tongue should be held at rest simply say, "na na na na" then proceed to place the rest of the tongue against the roof of the mouth.
Suctioning the tongue to the roof of the mouth will create a vacuum effect sealing you mouth shut and allowing you to breathe and swallow properly.
The second important step to note is the tongue posture when swallowing. In order to swallow correctly without risking damage of the gums and developing skewed, crooked teeth you have to practice the cheesy smile swallow. Simply get your tongue into correct tongue posture, grit your teeth, smile and swallow without allowing your tongue to slide forward.

Okay I've done this for 1 year now and the results show a lot! My face being sucked in my mum kept thinking I wasn't eating 🤦♀️ she's been telling me to eat properly for last 2 months now.

one important part of the swallowing is to not let the tongue press against your teeth. the pressure from the tongue should be applied to the palate right behint your front treeth.

I did mewing for like more than 10 months and it works i'm skinny so the result may be faster for me but you can see a noticable difference after 10 months .

When I close my teeth together my mouth and lower half of my face just looks weird. Do I have to close them completely to mew correctly. Thank you so much. Thank you for your comment I still have a slight overbite when clenching my teeth which is natural. You don't need to chomp down extremely hard but when you suction your mouth your molars or back teeth should be resting on one another. Keep working on it man it's a lifelong change but so worth it

Working on it right now, been doing it (kind of) correctly for about 6 months or so, and i’ve noticed a huge difference in breathing properly, jaw angle, my teeth stay straight without a retainer, etc.
It’s a very slow process, and it is ONLY effective if done correctly.

@Bruce Wayne I've stuck to it ever since watching this video, it just became natural after a while. Thought I wasn't seeing much in the way of results, but looking back, it has helped massively. It takes a long time to see any sort of result but I promise it does help.

Wow, I’ve been doing this naturally since being a child and I didn’t even know it, I never been a mouth breather either.
Same here, I've been doing it as long as i can remember. I always thought that everyone naturally rests their tongue on the roof of their mouths. I've discovered this 'Mewing' today and i was shocked to know that some people don't rest thier tongue like this, i even tried to rest my tongue on the bottom of my mouth and couldn't hold it.
Everyone’s explaining how to rest your tongue while mewing, but I regularly have my tongue rested like that every day in my life. I see tutorials about it and it appears that I’ve been mewing on accident but I don’t have a fine jawline. Can someone explain to me how to mew? Because these videos don’t explain specifically. They say rest your tongue on the top pallet or say “n”. But I still don’t know what that means

@@phucdeptrai9017 Maybe it is a placebo effect after all. I can't tell. What I CAN tell however is that combining exercise, nutrition, a caloric deficit AND mewing did help my jawline out in only 3 days. Will keep doing it for sure!

When creating suction, is it only supposed to be your tongue suctioned to the roof of the mouth, or should the entire mouth have a vacuum? When my entire mouth is vacuumed, it makes my lips feel like they're sticking out.
I've kept my tongue at the top of my mouth for my entire life just out of habit. Good to know it was the right habit I guess lol.

Perhaps the suctioning force is damaging your already weak gums, remember to brush twice a day and floss your teeth for strong teeth and gums
So I am a singer, and I am not sure how much this technique works. But I can tell you one absolute crucial benefit it is providing me in singing. So if you are humming to a song or just as a vocal practice, your voice will sound much stronger and amplified. As a younger singer, I had seen a Russian lady hum once and her hum was strong and clear, so much so that her humming was the loudest in a group of 5-6. Incidentally, she also had a really defined face structure of sharp jaws and high cheekbones. So if not for anything else, I will keep this practice up for singing. Hope it helps you too!
Thank you for the video. Finally one that gets to the point. I'm getting braces next week and have a tongue thrust. Myofunctional therapy is too costly so I figured I'd find the correct tongue posture on my own. Hope this gets rid of the tongue scalloping I have.
