Native Plants in the Home Landscape | Volunteer Gardener

- Native plants have evolved in a region with adaptations to the geology, climate, soil, to the wildlife, and to the other plants. Therefore, a key to successful ornamental gardening would be to include a high percentage of native trees, shrubs and perennials. Tammy Algood discusses the attributes of natives with Margie Hunter, author of 'Gardening with Native Plants of Tennessee: The Spirit of Place'.

Hi there! New sub, enjoying this video. As I become a more experienced gardener, the more I’m learning about and utilizing native plants in my landscape. I’m in southwest Ohio. Thanks for this very informative conversation! ~Angela
Joining Wild Ones is a great way to learn how to incorporate native plants into your home landscape and to see how others are using native plants for bees and butterflies. They also have wonderful videos to watch.
Oh yes! I love her book. Glad she was on the show.💕
Thanks! I’m getting my list ready for spring, going to focus on adding more native plants to my yard this year.

Agree depending upon the bulldozer man details sometimes you get topsoil and sometimes clay and lots of rocks, I got lots of clay and rocks.
Unless you "dig into your soil ".we can only guess.
Thanks
Margie great Lady and knowledge, But I'm hopeful you're going to other areas like Ohio
It takes a lot of faith to believe in the unproven theory of evolution.
The God I worship created all the plants.
