  • I arrived in Athens to make a series of videos and had no idea it was Greek Independence Day!
I saw tanks, jets, helicopters and a parade! Other videos from Athens include The Parthanon and Mount Lycabettus. All comments and likes are hugely appreciated, hope you like the series!

@@ApaleutosMits You're right about that, but why did I say regular army? In 1825, King Ioannis Kapodistrias had created the regular army (evelpidon) and he essentially created an irregular army in essence, he created the regular army, the so-called ebelpidon, but you are right in what you said...

Thanks! Yes I heard it called Revolution Day when I was there but it was my understanding that Greek people used that term but that it was generally referred to as Independence Day by others, including my hotel staff who are Greek so I just went for the more recognisable word for the masses.

I always make a point of being in the Center to see the parade. Between the tanks and fighter jet flyovers, it's a wonderful way to celebrate the 25th of March. I also like to visit the War Museum afterward if I can.
As for your hotel and its surroundings - If you're staying near Omonia that might be why things are a bit rough. That entire side of the City Center is rather hairy, though it's been slowly improving.

Loved it. I really like your videos and no nonsense approach and in this one you looked like a young lad, a toddler having the time of his life seeing tanks, helicopters, jets, cannons and soldiers. 👍 Just as a reminder, the corner you stood and watched it, was on a part of the parade path where it was about to be dismantled. Some of the soldiers there were walking a bit losely, except for the Presidential Guard with the traditional fustanela, kilts and the Army Officers Cadets again wearing their traditional uniforms.
The Special forces seemed like they were having a walk in a park but as you can imagine these guys don't unually mess about.
If you are lucky enough to stand in the main, central part (being there like from the night before or something) just outside of the Greek Parliament well there, noone is messing about... They pay respect to the President, the Prime Minister , MPs, the Houses of Parliament , the Syntagma - Constitution, the Highest Rank Military Officers, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and the people of Greece. So they look mint. No bullocks

Our independence is Revolution was aided by first president of America George Washington plus Britain 1821 , ( go find the Tombs of heroes )( which fort is transformed into a burial) We may be the smallest on map but the bravest as Hero’s fight like Greeks, no matter where you decide to venture off in Greece, a few feet below your bun is Ancient Greece , can’t develop Greece without an archaeologists present, and once upon a time Greece was beyond gorgeous with out all the mix cultures like today , just like every other country I been too you got your beauty and ugliness in every aspect of borough/state/city within the country
In the parade done every year on our Revolution Day date you witnessed the special forces from the Tier list 1-3 ( which none refer themselves into this file )
