      @giordanod...... Yes two great players. After i watched alot of bobby charlton in man utd videos then dvds, the man was brilliant. I didnt know much about him, but after a couple of years just seeing clips of him playing and scoring great goals, bobby charlton was up there with the true greats of the game. The way he ran the midfield was a joy to watch. It was the way when he got the ball with 3 opposing players around him trying to move in on him, then he would just do a little move like a step over or just kidd on he was going to go one way to then go the other to then hit a 50 yard long pass with any foot as he was two footed and that great at it not many people knew wich foot was his natural one. And his pass would land right at george best or denis laws foot and they didnt need to move a step. One of the greatest players i have ever seen bobby charlton. He scored a good goal in this game. Set up by george best who beat about 3 men then laid it onto bobby to hammer it home. But it wasnt enough. The italians were the best in the world at defending at this time and era. And great at attacking as well but from the 1960s to the 1990s the italians were the best at defending, any team in britain and europe will tell you the same. Once they locked that back door at times it was impossible to get in and score. It was as if they played with 7 at the back and the keeper made 8. No joke. But i have watched the one on here that was cleared off the goal line about 15 times at least i have seen it over the years. And i forgott the main rule....if your in any doubt then you dont give the goal. And i have watched it about 12 to 15 times to make sure becouse tbh i really just dont know if the whole ball did cross the line. Am thinking it was in black and white, that goal line was at least 7 inches wide, back then due to the way the penalty box would end up flat with mud and the groundsmen would just keep whiteing the pitch every week or a day before every game at this stage of the season alot of the white lines would look wider than they should be. If that was at the start of the season i am sure every one would clearly see the ball over the line by 3 or 4 inches. The bit i am also stuck with is theres a bit that gets blocked for about 3 seconds as the ball is going over the line as the keeper double jointetly trys to get the back of his leg to it to clear it away with the heel of his boot and it rolls along just mostly behind the line and gets it cleared away. But was it behind the line?? The whole ball, should the line be 7 or 8 inches wide? But its done now, and man utd i thought should have played better. The way george best tore rapid vienna to bits in the earlier round was brilliant to watch as he scored two great goals. Had he played like that he would have beaten ac milan. George best on form could beat any team at that time.

      Honour to Manunited but for a miracle the ball was nailed by the goalkeeper to the line. And as It would happen thereafter in Saloniki , the players of Manchester hustled through strength out goalkeeper to make enter the ball. It was foul against out goalkeeper too. That doesn't take anything to the value of Red devils, but It didn't cross the line. Besides After liveliness of the game, Manchester honoured the winners. That's the difference with Leeds.

      the goalkeeper of Milan was kicked at all hazards in order to make enter the ball. The same thing happened in 1973 in Thessaloniki to Vecchi by the players of Leeds, that shot and shot but who didn't manages to score so they had to invent the falsehoods supported in the history of Corbett, but they didn't have the balls to repeat the same against bayern. Does The English football really deserve the title of Fair play League ?????????????????????? Please let's shut up and let's not say bullshits.

      When Kidd tried to force the ball over the line, yes, there was a foul on the goalkeeper and play was rightly stopped. I didn't see a foul for Law's goal-that-wasn't, and certainly that wasn't why it was not given. Should it have been a goal? I'm not sure. It looked like a goal to me, but then I am a Manchester United supporter so I might be biased, and the referee presumably had a better view than any spectator. From what I could make out watching this film, it's perfectly possible that Rivera managed to stop the ball before the last 1/64th of an inch had crossed the line. Even if it was over the line, though, United fans can't complain too much. John Aston, by his own admission, hooked the ball back from over the line in the build-up to the decisive goal against Sarajevo in the 1968 campaign, so if they had a good goal disallowed in the same competition the following year we just have to accept that it's a case of luck balancing out.* Certainly, it doesn't look as if there was anything biased about it. Before watching this video I had heard of the incident and wondered if it was another case of Italian clubs fixing continental competitions with the help of referees, but presumably if the referee had been bent he would have given the goal when Hamrin had the ball in the net.
      That being said, I do think Manchester United might have had cause to complain about the refereeing in general, if not that particular decision. For most of the match, almost every time they got into a promising attacking position the play was stopped for a foul. I'm not saying these decisions were incorrect (not always, anyway), but I do suspect a lot of them came down to the difference between the prevailing British and continental interpretations of the Laws of the Game, with referees from the European mainland stopping play more readily, for offences that would have been considered soft in Britain. Matt Busby's Manchester United, famous in England as an example of fair play, might well have felt hard done by. Milan, not being used to the rougher style of play engendered by the British interpretation, might with equal validity have wondered where that famous British fair play was. (Particularly in the first half, when Nobby Stiles broke up two attacks and bought time for his teammates with two handballs in succession, without being booked for either of them. Today he'd have been sent off.)
      *All the same, though, what a final it would have been with Charlton against Cruyff!

    Tavy@ iam a man utd fan and i have watched this match in full 3 or 4 times and i have watched the goal line incident that would of saved utd had it counted. But it didnt. Now i have watched that incident with the ball rolling in or kept out about 60 times. No joke. Becouse its in black and white, the pitch was muddy, the goal line looked about a foot wide. And to be fair i dont believe it was a goal. I just didnt see the whole ball cross the line, i saw about half the ball cross the line. Wich means its not a goal. My dad said "if you had to watch it 60 times then what does that alone tell you lol. You wanted it to be a goal" it was just so hard to judge becouse the ball rolled along the line as well, i saw that to, but i just didnt see the whole ball go over that thick muddy line. So the referee who saw it from 6 yards if that and the linesman from 30 yards. So tell me this then why in the 1966 world cup final with the referee no where to be seen and that lines man who was 30 yards away, how could they possibly know or see hurst shot come of the bar and bounce out then say it crossesd the line lol. Its impossible. I was sick when i found out why they gave that goal. The world cup was rigged from the start for england to win it.

    Tavy@ i have watched so many manchester utd games from the 1960s that i have to say after george best who was the greatest player in the world from 1966 to 1972 by a mile. He was unstoppable through those years. And the greatest player there will ever be in football full stop. Then maradona. Then pele. But at man utd i have to say bobby charlton was better than denis law. And the second best utd player through the 1960s. After watching so many games, about 100. I had no idea bobby was as great as that. I have to put him above denis law for skill and those 50, 60 yard passes with both feet. Then when he chased a ball with a player at hes backand bobby got to it first it was brilliant the way he did that step over while sending the player the other way to give him that extra yard or two to do what he wanted, and its harder than it looks. I can do it to but you need to know when to do it or you can look a bit stupid. It wasnt so much a step over it was the way he just changed direction all in the same motion when he got first to the ball. Brilliant so he is. hes up there with the worlds greatest players list. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    I strongly dislike AC Milan, and Italian football in general, but it has to be admitted that they won the 1969 EC the hard way.
    They eliminated Celtic, the 1967 winners, in the Q/F then Manchester Utd, the holders, in the S/F. In the final they annihilated Cruyff's Ajax side which would go on to win 3 of the next 4 European Cups.
    It's just a pity that no Italian success can ever be taken at face value, especially when it involves either AC Milan or Juventus, both proven to be serial cheats.

      serial cheats? You are mistaking teams. Until 2010 , you have been always defeated by us. Your first victory against us happened in 2010 after four challenges . But despite a 2-1 for red devils in semifinal 1958 , we crushed you 4-0 and we reached the final, that we lost against Real madrid, We eliminated your team in this semifinal again (2-0, 0-1). What happened in 1958 and 1969 repeated itself in 2005 (1-0, 1-0 for us) and we crushed you again 3-0 in 2007. Is it always a case? Whereas the second goal, or assumed second goal, was just the result of a goalkeeper ( ours) that had been literarily ill-treated by the English players, that wanted to shove him through kicks inside the goal. Cudicini had grasped the ball and already saved before the ball entered. But the English players didn't accept the fact he had saved and they drove him into the goal by force or at least they tried to do so.So I underline: red devils is the best that English football has ever drawn out from his players everywhere and that England has ever offered to the world of football, it is a better team than the same national side. But the idea that the others, especially italians and germans, but also each kind of foe on the football pitch, always cheats you and steals you something is a kind of LIE that you English should stop to repeat to yourselves. tHE VICE of kicking the goalkeepers ( especially the ones of Milan), when goal has not been scored or achieved, is something that reminds me Thessaloniki 1973. We robbed neither you nor Leeds United.

      @@Faber9722, 1958 you beat a patched up team after the loss of so many of the " Busby Babes" in the Munich Air Disaster... With a full strength team, it would have been a " stroll in the park" for Utd.
      1969 was a case of corrupt officials in charge of the match at Old Trafford...
      The 2nd goal scored by Denis Law was clearly over the goal line and if it wasn't, as some people say so, it should have been a penalty due to a Milan outfield player and not the goalkeeper pulling the ball back in to the field of play.
      The other years are as they are.

    More a case of english teams and officials didnt cheat. Not that your comments would be taken seriously with your username. No doubt you have a scottish background.
    Or maybe an Italian background, whose teams have always been involved in bribery and corruption, which has been proved on numerous occasions.

    I'm not English so I couldn't care less that England only won one World Cup. What I do care very much about is corruption. Italian football has a long, disgraceful history of match-fixing and that's why I dislike it.
    You speak of winning 4 World Cups as if you believe that the end justifies the means. It doesn't. It merely shows that you are proud of something which honest people would be ashamed of.
    Calciopoli makes it very hard to believe that any Italian team EVER wins fairly.

      The fact is that in the U.s.they fix basketball or baseball games too , and certainly what happened in Italy also happened in Spain , England Germany , France ; so if somebody does something wrong must be strictly punished , but it doesn't mean that the name of a glorious team has to be blamed and goddamned forever or the entire history of its nation . Milan lost a Champions Cup final with Marseille back in 1993 and after some time it turned out all the French players were coked out. Italy won 4 World Cups because it used to have the best teams in the world for four times back then , not because somebody fixed the games.

    don't be the victim of media, my friend. Football is corrupt everywhere nowadays. From Korea to Chile. Only, in Italy they still have law-enforcement and justice strong enough to disclose and punish the guilty no matter how authoritative. What, you think Brazilian or Portugese or Greek or Beligian footballs are immaculate and transparent just because we don't hear the news from their media about bribery and match-fixing?

    Tavy@ could some one please help me here. In the 1966 world cup final the referee never saw that ball cross the line from were he was standing. At least 14 yards away. And the lines man who gave the goal was at least 30 YARDS away. And it never crossesd the line experts said 26 years later after watching it with new technology. But in europe its so corrupt its unbelieve. At celtic park in 1983 celtic beat rapid vienna 3-0. Then a bottle landed 20 yards away from every one, then the rapid player who saw the bottle on the park just threw his self down on the ground holding his face. Then he played on with a bandage round his HEAD. That then forced a replay at old trafford wich celtic lost 1-0. Then theres thousands of games in europe with british clubs being cheated by officials. The only reason british teams did so well in the late 1970s and early 80s by winning the cup was becouse they were just so good uefa couldnt find a way to cheat them!!!

    Tavy@ how could any one in the strettford end with at least 15 thousand fans at that end from at least 10 yards away and on a muddy pitch with the lines especialy the goal line on that mud at least 9 inches wide? Were as a line on a grass park is 4 inches wide. A know av lined grass parks. And am a man utd fan. But a just didnt see the whole ball go over that line. Maybe it did. A know 3 quarters of the ball was over. But that means it isnt a goal. Aaaaarggghhh

    Denis Law made it 2-0 but only the ref and the linesman failed to see the ball clearly over the line. A fix perhaps, or just ineptitude?

    • @Faber9722
      @Faber9722 8 років тому +1

      +coalseamwig Cudicini was just more kicked than the ball itself, when he had already caught the ball; because the frustration of a good team like yours had anyway broken itself opposite a good goalkeeper; the ball didn't enter at all, so that your players thought well of kicking off the body of our goalkeeper; it is neither fix nor ineptitude of the three referees and lineman; you Britons boast yourselves of being the Kings of fairplay, but soon after you start with these foolish complaints, there is some contradiction in that, isn't it ? Besides I must add that in our victory of Thessaloniki against Leeds in 1973, there isn't any petition that stands on its feet, because Leeds ( another british team) had so many chances that our goalkeeper of that time ( Vecchi) held everything, and in the end also the players of Leeds kicked off Vecchi, because they didn't manage to score the decisive goal; is this of exchanging the goalkeeper for the ball an English vice or what else?

    • @Faber9722
      @Faber9722 8 років тому

      it wasn't at all over the line, I have already said that. It's easy to shift a goalkeeper, who has already held the ball before the line, by kicking and kicking him again.
