Hi Bryan, The Neptune is very good and lightweight, but the Meiji is even lighter, and, as you say, very good and extremely well made, cheers mate, hope all well 👍
Hi Pete, a great video as always and very timely as well as you know I've just got my Meiji Finer Core 1.3 a couple of days ago and it had it's madden voyage yesterday and what a gun it is👌straight out of the box using it at 2 bar full fan and fluid and away you go with no messing or any tweaking needed just as I remember it when I borrowed yours quite a while back👍 The Devilbiss Neptune looks a really nice well made gun and the coating they put on there is very unusual, from what you are saying it would be good to have that on more guns, it certainly gave the Finer Core a run for it's money as it laid the clear on really nice the finish looked as good as the Finer Core👏👊 When I was looking at getting my Finer Core I had a look on the BSS site but couldn't find anywhere on there to buy the gun, they seem to want trade inquires with a contact for more info button plus there is no mention of the gun anywhere that I could see, I was under the impression you could buy the gun from them but they don't make it very easy if you can, anyway I got it from Painting Tools Japan where it was in my hands in just 4 days😁 Cheers mate👍
Hi John, Yes, the Neptune is a great advert to Devilbiss in the UK of how to make a quality gun, certainly as far as build quality and finish is concerned, its certainly a huge step up from what we are used too, a bit embarrassing really being a Brit 🤣😂 BSS is a bit old school in that you can phone them for details. They are the distributors, so they will supply dealers with the products, but, as far as I know, you can buy directly. They have a very good reputation in the refinishing industry, so hopefully, they can do well. Cheers, buddy 👍
I'm surprised Devilbiss hasn't got these for sale in the UK I'm sure they would be very popular as it's almost an upgrade to the ProLite. I had a feeling that you could probably phone them but companies often do that so they get inquires from the trade rather than the public but maybe I'm old fashion as well🤔🤷♂I recon you will soon be back to HQ mate, cheers👍
@JohnWD40TC02 I think by the time these got to the UK John, they would be £600 or so, so directly competing against the DV1 , no market for two high end guns I think, cheers mate 👍
Hi Grant, They are quite small and light but have the output and punch of a full-size gun. Built quality is second to none, likewise there performance is right up there with the best. Thanks for the support, Grant 👌
Hi Pete, I am from across the pond in Massachusetts. I've been painting for50yrs, started with a Devilbiss MBC and JGA. I've strictly been using PPG Deltron products the last 35 years or so with good results. My issue is the costs now are obscene. A 1 gallon set up of the clear I use is over $500.00 US. I see you use U-pol 2882 clear on some tests. Amazon states it's a high solid clear but U-pol tech sheet states that it is medium solid. Have you used it on any of your finished projects ? Is it durable ( UV and chip protection) ? I really value your opinion.
Hi Robert, I know what you mean, some of the better quality clears are getting silly money. The Upol clears I have used hold up pretty well to UV and seem to keep there gloss levels, it obviously is a budget clear, so there are trade off, mostly, it is harder to apply and it doesn't flow out particularly well compared to many, but, once you get used to it, it seems OK, I've got jobs that I see regularly that were done 7 years ago and they are still absolutely fine
Hiya Pete,I’ve just discovered your channel and it’s absolutely ace.im not a pro but could you recommend a spray gun for spraying motorbike frames please?Presently using spray cans!I’ve got a large compressor and that’s it.i appreciate your busy but any advice really would be appreciated.many thanks in advance .adrian
Hi Adrian, what do you mean, you're only just discovered the channel. Where have you been 😂🤣😂 It sounds like your compressor is fine for any gun. Obviously, the budget will come into it. What sort of money are you thinking 🤔
@ 🫡😂😂I’ve been hiding! I found you by searching internet for spraying advice so I looked through a lot and yours came up.really entertaining and very informative.ive subscibed because its seriously cool.ive been using rattle cans but i thought,i got a compressor so i should go to spray guns.however a lot of people say go as expensive as you can and some say budget.id say at mo my budget is about the 150 mark but I’ll go with what you feel is best.thanks for replying.i love that detail
@adrianlawford5833 If it's motorcycle frames, budget pushed to the limit or out the window, Iwould go for something like an Anest Iwata LPH50 0.6 or Anest Iwata LPH80 in 0.8, the LPH80 is more adaptability in than you can go up to 1.2 tip which will allow you to do a little more than just frames. Within budget, Porphis MPH338 in 1.0, Anest Iwata Airgunza AZ4 in 1.0, Meiji F55 0.8. Cheap but ok, the ANI GF3 in 1.0, Chinese copy's of the Sri Pro Lite, so Ntools 888 and the like. It is, in this case, but not always, you get what you pay for, you only want a small fan, so 0.6, 0.8 guns are best, but the 1.0 will allow you to do a little more if required. Using a gun is much much better than using cans. It's so much more controllable and adjustable
Thanks mate, not sure I'll make it through the door now as my heads too big with this legendry status I have 🤣😂, cheers buddy, let me know how you get on, always interesting to hear 👍
Hi Mate, it's as good but not better, it is better made and much easier to get good results with, and cheaper, so certainly the one to go for imo, cheers 👍
Hi Pete, another nice video, do you know that on ebay now there are neptunes for $85-90 usd, also some $275, I assume the former are Chinese knock offs.
Hi Mate, Yes, I have seen them, I have one in my basket with Aliexpress at the moment, I'm not sure what they are like but there's only one way to find out 😂, they aren't genuine of course, so will be much heavier, I have no idea how they perform , cheers buddy 👍
Pete, is it normal that when a infrared thermometer is cold by itself (because it lays in a cold room), it gives an error on the display? I have one that i need to warm up a bit with a hairdryer before it's working properly. 😊
Hi Mate, Yes, mine does it as well. So does my ANI Skull digital gauge, I warm them up with a heat gun, BTW, I got back yesterday. The measurements you sent are the same as the original 5500
Oh that is fantastic news, thank you for taking the time! This means i can buy a CC aircap for it! The current O cap sprays clear wonderfull already but i want to try the CC cap as well. 😂 I already received the second identical spraygun i ordered last week, they are awesome guns.
I hope you were on time for the Black Friday discount, they are more expensive now. When you have it, could you let me know if an original nozzleset indeed fits?
I was in time for the Black Friday prices, I also had a coupon from Aliexpress that gave me more discount. the problem is, nothing has been dispatched yet, so I'm wondering if they will ?, time will tell, I guess 👍

No, if you look at my reviews of them they actually use much more air than is said, around 7.5 to 8 cfm, more than you have and you only have a very small tank
Here in the us the prices of spray guns are weird lately. I can get a supernova for $675 and the Neptune you speak of is $420. I see painting tools Japan has a supernova but the item# is weird

@mreightytwenty8709 That's good, Do you mean teaching people to paint?
Yes i get alot of people wanting to learn.......
@mreightytwenty8709 Sounds like a great idea. I hope it goes well 😀
Two Japanese legends! Both are great guns. Another worthy addition to this comparison might be the Kiwami WBX/WB?
Thanks Pete. Was wondering about the Japanese Devilbiss guns.Have you tried to see if a smaller needle, nozzle kit will fit in the Porphis 155?
Hi Mate, The PHS155 is quite unique in its design, so the tip isn't really interchangeable with anything else

Hi Pete, what is the difference in air consumption between the Meiji finer core models
Hi Buddy, the 1.3 & 1.5 are around 10.5cfm at 29psi, so 2 bar, the 1.3 and 1.5 HVLP versions are around 14cfm at 25psi, so 1.8 bar , hope that helps 👍
