The Studer 810 was a real workhorse in recording studios where I worked during the 1980's and 90's and were still being used into the 2000's for recording and editing. Some were replaced with the 812's in the specific studio where I worked before everything went digital around 2005. I was still keeping four 812's operational until I retired in 2009. Unfortunately the value of all these machines was not appreciated and a lot of them ended up being dumped in landfills around 2012'ish. The plant had converted to networked digital workstations (Dalet) and most of the technical staff had either been laid off or retired by then. A tragic waste of money and technology that I'm sure some regret today. If I would have known that they were doomed to be landfill bound I would have offered to take a few home and tried to find new homes for them. I did manage to purchase a couple of Studer 810's and after using them for many years have sent them on to new studios where they are happily being used to this day.
Awesome story. I'd like to know the real reason why those studios went full digital. Obviously digital format is easier to handle and to store but is the quality worth it? Is digital format of better quality than reel to reel audio tapes?
I've got one that looks just like that- red display, tape scissors, 4-speed capstan, PLUS it's got the Studer Vari-Speed for the reel motors and butterfly heads.
Treba mi jedan takav ili sličan sa zvučnicima 50 do 100 vati za upotrebu. Imam 100 snimljeni traka na uheru koji je u kvaru. Skoljko mani. Rok isporuke. Hvala. Joška Srbija.

@@aitortilla5128 It's quite simple. The accountants took over and digital is cheaper than analog once tape costs are considered.
@@aitortilla5128 Unfortunately, it is not technically feasible. Only a very limited number of quality copies can be made from a tape.
Something really artistic and beautiful about the shot looking down onto the turntable ... very nice
