Congrats! I can never get over how smoothly speedruns pull off impossible tricks. "Firebar? Meh, easy." I realize you gotta keep cool and carry on, but it still gets me. Just unbelievable stuff.
That's pretty awesome. I've never seen a run of this game though, so I am curious as to why the reboot is done. Regardless it was an impressive run from a mostly outsider's eyes (I'm more used to speedruns of 3D Zelda games) and I also find it super cool that you can go for 2 different records with 1 run.
Reboot was done after taking the warp pipe in A-3 to world C. The reboot allowed him to select level B-4 which was unlocked on the file select screen after warping to world C. B-4 has the warp pipe to go to world D.
after learning about it every time you get to the end in a good run I fear the glitch where the hammers get a hitbox back when you get the mushroom although I guess that'd still count as a run since is after time, so it'd be more like the bad ending glitch and actually really cool the bar skip looking so natural is super sick
Congrats, the lost levels are so much fun to watch you speedrun! Could anyone explain the save and quit/boot into B-4 bit? I dont remember hearing about that part before and would like to know why it’s done/how it works. Thanks!
congratulations!!! I love your runs of this game; can barely wait to see more. I have such a love hate relationship with SNES 2-J lmao. I love what they do with the music, just as good as the NES soundtrack in different ways, but I harbour a deep, irrational hatred for mario's crouching sprite. wasn't doki doki always meant to be a mario game? but then it turned into a collab with whomever owns the characters in doki doki, and then after that they were able to finish 2-U as the mario game it was always meant to be? pretty sure jan misali talks about it at some point in their videos about the mario franchise ("How many mainline super mario games are there?" I think) if you wanna know more 2-U sure kept a bunch of the vaguely arabic/middle-eastern influences though lmao. underground theme in phrygian SLAPS
I do all my runs on real hardware, yeah. This record is specifically the all stars version run. I have the record for the fds version equivalent category. I play both versions and compete in all the main categories for this game
The all-stars title screen is faster (English version has an extra little animation when you press start on that screen where all the characters are chatting). Saves like a second and a half (?) in this category specifically, during the save & quit -> boot into b-4 segment. I still like to use this version for other categories too though because it says "For Super Players" on the title screen and that's fun :)
Nice. While I feel like anyone can get a world record in something niche enough that they practice really hard at, Kosmic is very excellent and experienced in general with these SMB1-like platformers.
@@far2ez SMB2J for FDS has been officially released since All Stars in US regions, no change to the title screen but still listed as Lost Levels. That's the name Nintendo has gone with since it popped up on Wii Virtual Console.
This category is for the all stars version. I play both. I have the equivalent record on the fds version already. I'm going for all the main records in this game. There are 6 on fds version and 4 on this version. I have 7/10 so far, 4 on fds and 3 on snes.

Dude, that bar skip was amazing. Love from Thailand.
Just a casual save of a WR with a bar skip in D-4. Kosmic is impressive at setting new WRs.
I physically flinched when you hit the wall in D-4, but luckily it was still enough!! 🎉
Congrats! I love your positive attitude and that you keep the language clean. Keep making great stuff!
GG and congratulations on this run. You know your strengths and where runs go wrong; I have no doubt you'll improve this record quickly.
Congratz
never seen bar skip, nice!
LETS GOOOOO. that was a sick run man I'm proud and happy you got another WR
You never cease to amaze. Bar skip was insane 🎉
Awesome!! I was watching you for the past few days but missed the WR run!
I'll beat it again, and 8-4, soon don't worry :)
@@kosmicspeedruns love you man! Thanks for all the content you make
That's it, kids. If everething in your life goes wrong, do bar skip.
Congrats once again! Nice runs to watch, and funny to hear you mumble about details that shows your knowledge of the game.
Ugh, wish I could have seen this live! GG on the wr and gl on the 13:39!

Ayyy-ohhh! Congrats, Koz! Kickin' it strong since like... what... 2000?
13:40, coming soon! Well done on the progress.

Ok, I'll need a cover video for some of these glitches like that midair in 8-4 (I think).
Heck yeah kosmic!
Congrats! 13:39 will be yours in no time.
Is anybody gonna play Super BOOio bros for Halloween?
GG on another WR!
Hell yeah, congrats dude
Amazing work as always!
4:57 Smooth dodge
Congrats!
Holy crap dude. Its easier to follow tas super Mario Bros than this.
This is what I subscribed for
Kick ass run!
I'm here again! Good speedrun bro :)
Nice job
He did it again!
GGs.
It was amazing to watch! 🎉
Excellent 💪🏼
GG good job; at least some record that still doesn't belong to Niftski.
I really see why you prefer this to smb1. It's way more dynamic.
WHAT!?

I'm sure this has been answered at some point, but any reason you're using Mario Allstars and not the original? Are you playing on real hardware?

How come Mario can jump into the cage without opening the door?
Asking the real questions
Hello from Sandy
Question: is there a specific reason the record is done on the NTSC-J version?
Good question

2 views. Neat. I'm not normally this early
Why on all-stars?
You have to play All Stars for the All Stars run.
@@edge3220 but the title says lost levels
@@doctoreggman21 Lost levels only exists on all-stars. The base game is SM2J - it wasn't known as "the lost levels" on the NES.
