After watching this it occurred to me Jay deserves a big thank you. He is helping document and educate about automotive history. You really get exposure to cars you never would any other way.
A true gentleman and admirer of fine Automobiles, Jay like most people with Class, loves good craftsmanship and horsepower. He's such a lucky man to be able to engage with us his fondness for Cars.
I’m 70 and although I used to devour Road and Track and Car and Driver, I’ve never heard of a lot of these cars that Jay covers. Indeed Jay deserves kudos from all of us gear heads that only have access to his videos.
The fact that this guy, Jonathan, took his concours winning car, drove it up to LA on a CA freeway and let Jay drive it says a lot about his character. He (and Jay) let us all enjoy this beautiful car. For any enthusiast, especially those of us who can never afford such a car, it's really special. Thanks, guys!
This particular model from Maserati epitomizes the essence of 50's and 60's Italian automotive design. The beautifully sculpted lines, bold trident embossed grill, and visceral engine hark back to a time when car companies could strike a great balance between power and beautiful design. It's nice to see this wonderful soul stirrer of a car resurrected to grace the streets once again.
People are a little harsh on the owner who clearly is not terribly familiar with his own car. This car has clearly had a vast amount of work done by skilled craftsmen. These craftsmen will have bills to pay and families to feed, this mans money has enabled us all to see this car beautiful again. It is hard to believe that this car is from the mid 1950s, it looks much later, a two litre, six cylinder twin cam would have been expensive to make, but that is part of the art of the car.
Where does he show that he doesn’t know about his car? I watched the entire video and the owner was naming all the parts of the car as jay was asking about them. 🤷♂️

My grandpa's dad who passed on before I was born was the Fire Chief of this small Massachusetts city, and later my Mom's cousin became fire chief. I would have become a fireman in Marlborough, but my Dad and two of his brothers became military officers in WWII and stayed in for their careers and my life lead me other places but I still admire fireman and their trucks.

Wow, this thing is s3x on wheels! I've never seen this model before!
Aww! I wanted to hear the difference between the city horn and the country horn!... Very beautiful car, though!... Thanks Mr. Leno!
Learned a bit more about the gear box this time....thanks Jay, for bringing that up. It's almost the titanium color of the 2000 XJ8.
When Jay retires he should relocate to the south of France or the Italian Riveria and give some of these cars the setting they deserve.
Point of correction Jay. The 1st Maserati son was an artist while the others entered automotive engineering. Great show as per usual. Keep doing what you do.
That guy on the motorcycle scared the hell out of me! 😂
Me too. "Nicely done." VROOOM! WTF?
What a rarity, thanks for sharing, Jay is spot on when he said "old $$ car" these were more prestigious than Ferrari back then. In my opinion still are since they are carrying a lot more history. beautiful piece and its owner dressed accordingly. Great video.
Jay Leno's Garage? This is turning out to be more entertaining for me, a car guy, than Jay's tenure on The Tonight Show.
Same Maserati style grill as today. Beautiful trident.
Signature at its best.
That thing is classically gorgeous!
Jeez, when they got into the car and Jay was talking about the brakes etc, it was hardly noticeable that the engine was running. Smooth!
Absolutely gorgeous looks and sound.
An absolute jewel of a car.
What a car, and the whine of that Maserati engine is just dead sexy!
Saw a red one in London last summer and they’re just as stunning in person. One of the stunning cars I’ve seen
Very impressive car. Car went to the right owner. Very focused on getting it the way it originally was delivered. Sounds superb. Appears the boat propeller fan kept it cool enough on the drive. Appreciate the owner bringing this car back.
Simply stunning.
Wow, that car is fantastically beautiful.
You know, when Jay does his oooh's and aaah's.. he's absolutely right.
Looks like something that would have come out in the 60s. Surprised its from the mid 50s.
The Maserati brothers were so far ahead of their time, that they developed light weight alloy engines as early as the 40s. Let that sink in for a moment...
Fantastic engine sound; not overly loud, but tuneful.
Beautiful car. Leno never disappoints.
Maserati had it all in 56 , they have excellent quality. Delicate but high performance!!
The Sound !
Just amazing when you consider what was being produced at the same time...
