People in Panama are heading to vote in presidential elections amid an unfolding drama surrounding the country’s ex-president. Eight candidates are running for the top position, however, Jose Raul Mulino has been leading opinion polls. Mulino joined the race replacing former President Ricardo Martinelli who was banned from running in the elections after he was sentenced to more than 10 years in prison for money laundering. Voters are looking for the best candidate to fix Panama’s pressing economic problems, tackle corruption and restore the country’s reputation as an investment haven.
