Thank you so much Barbara! Good news is that I am just returning from having had another wonderful recital on this amazing organ: coming to UA-cam next month!
Well, Jerry, fulsome praise indeed - and so deserved - from Dr John Bertalot, for what he rightly termed as your 'exceptional' recital. It's when we remember that, by profession, you are a distinguished thoracic surgeon and not a full time organ recitalist that we can be truly awestruck by your sheer musicianship and virtuosic prowess when playing the King of Instruments - over which, certainly in the case of the magnificent Blackburn Cathedral Walker Organ, you have such complete mastery. The programme you presented so perfectly showcased that organ's potential - its amazing tonal palette from the gentlest, shimmering of the strings through the vibrant mutations to the thunderous power of its compelling tutti. And what a thrill for you to meet up with so many dear friends, as well as have your mother there to witness the esteem in which you are held. You really are just awesome in every sense: such a remarkable and kind and generous and humble man who blesses this world with such diverse and treasured talents. B R A V O !
Thank you so much 😊 It was such an amazing experience - thank you for your kind words - your encouragement over the past few years has helped me to get to know and love this repertoire and what a thrill to share it with a live audience - looking forward to the next opportunity. Appreciated Graham!!!
A wonderful time meeting up with yourself, your mom, Ian, John then later Richard and Tim. What an honour to chat to your mum whilst you practiced for this even though Weatherspoons can’t offer a decent pot/cup of tea for her. Amazing program and event that’ll be cherished and remembered for ever.
Thank you Jerry. Thoroughly enjoyable. Your concerts and videos are so very good. The person sitting in the background was fun. Perhaps he was busy trying to run the camera drone? Hee hee. But seriously, this was an awesome concert. I have never heard such wide wonderful colours. ("Colors" for Americans)
Thank you @Jerry Martin for sharing your recital with those of us far from Blackburn. What a brilliant experience! The variety of the pieces was a revelation to me.
Well, I have finally found time (3:00am) to listen to your fabulous recital at Blackburn Cathedral. You are superbly talented as Physician and Concert Organist… another Dr George Baker, Physician and Concert Organist. You rank among the best organists in my book. Thank you for your tender yet bold interpretations on the King of Instruments at Blackburn. You, like Dr Baker, find beauty in Works we seldom hear. Thank you again, Jerry. Your music is even better at 3:00am.❤️
Thank you very much for this recital. I especially liked your interpretation of Reger’s interpretation of JSB’s great music. You made the organ live wonderfully! Dr John Bertalot’s comments are spot on!
❤❤❤ Oh my! What a glorious concert! I've heard you say loud before about the Blackburn organ. I believe it is the building that is loud, and the placement of the organ takes full advantage of it. Anyway, it is lovely . . . everything but the case and shutter design concept but we could discuss color schemes under that beautiful dome all our days. It isn't too noticeable from the nave. Some incredible registrations; I especially liked the last parts of the Nearing. Wow, I thought I was listening to midi voices until it clicked what it was!
Jerry, did you manage to get on Blackburn this year? A question, I currently play Grand Orgue, Alessandria sample set. If u had £500 to spend witch sample set would u go for? Blackburn or another your opinion would be appreciated. Mr Mc Vie is pushing the St Mary's Radcliffe, sounds good but not the same acoustics of Blackburn.. Whatdo u think Jerry? Ta Brian.
Hi Brian - yes indeed - and will get that uploaded soon - amazing experience. Now great question on the samplesets. "It depends" - blackburn is not your typical English organ - it's so much fun to play, but it's not a "tuba organ" - while the new set that is coming very much is! You mentioned you are currently on GO - unfortunately St. Mary will be hauptwerk only (iLok needs) - and if I am not mistaken, Blackburn might be similarly restricted. So that's another factor to consdier.
@jerrymartin79 hi Jerry, thanks for the reply. Yes I will have to buy Hauptwerk to play the Blackburn set, I am slowly dropping hints to my wife, for my 80th!! Wish me luck.
Thank you to an excellent recital! Such a wide variety of music! Showing off this beautiful organ!
Thank you so much Barbara! Good news is that I am just returning from having had another wonderful recital on this amazing organ: coming to UA-cam next month!
Sorry not to be able to watch live. I was playing the organ of Blackburn Cathedral…. 🤣
Will catch up soon though 😊
Good luck tomorrow!!! Going to be amazing!!!!
Stirring stuff. A splendid programme to show off this unique organ.
Thank you so much 😊 Lots of opportunity to blow the bats out of the pipes!!
Beautiful recital Jerry! What an honor to be asked to play at Blackburn Cathedral.
Thank you so much 😊 It really was - such a thrill!!

Magnificent. Thankyou so much.
I'm pleased you got to play this organ for real and thanks for an innovative program.
Thank you so much 😊
Congratulations Jerry on a stunning recital. Great to hear you playing and promoting the W. Battison Haynes. It is a fine work indeed.
Thank you so much 😊 I appreciate that - it was such a thrill to play there!
What a majestic sound in this fantastic church!
Thank you so much 😊 It was a thrill!!
Really enjoyed your recital. Thank you 🙏
Something about this cathedral that makes you feel a bit closer to god with this organ begins to deafen you somewhat. Such a loud thundering organ.
I appreciate it 😊 Thank you for dropping by

A very impressive performance on a fabulous instrument even though the case, viewed from some angles, reassembles an oversized air conditioning unit.
Meanwhile in the background Dr. Bertalot enjoys "his" organ on his favourite seat 😎
Indeed - quite the experience!!
I’m sure he didn’t go anywhere, american’s belly button is often funny for everywhere in the world.
