Our Labrador has been staying with us since 2018. I never faced your mentioned disadvantage.

Labs do have problem with small house. It's my personal experience. When I was at my rented house Lara ( lab female) use to be showing bitting nature. She was not getting enough space, but when we came to my home town she was all mad with place....... She is very comfortable here.
