    I’ve been trying out pearl painting and I just love it. I have been having trouble with the consistency of the paint mix. My last try I think I got the colors too thin and the base color swallowed up the colors. I like a lot of color so I will keep trying. Thanks for the video. Very helpful

    Great videos, Meta! I was about to start doing some pearl pours a while ago when there was a lot of controversy as to whether the "new" Liquitex Flow/Soft Flow acrylic paint would work for the pearls like they used to. But, I'm now back wanting to try this method and I have two questions. 1.) If I wanted to use a large canvas (30" x 48" for example), and to have a lot of negative space on the top and lower portions of my painting, would I cover the entire canvas with the base mix or just the areas of the canvas where I wanted to have the pearls? 2.) If you've watched some of Sara Taylor's pours, she calls them "melting pearls". Would you think hers are the same kind of pearls? I thought to ask you this because your mixing videos are so exact, clear and easy to follow and I greatly appreciate that! Thanks so much for taking the time to do these tutorials to share will all of us!!

    Great video. What exactly is Floetrol? And the satin - is that also water based?

    • @MetaPours
      @MetaPours  2 роки тому +1

      Floetrol is a paint additive that helps extend the dry time of paint. However, it is widely used in the paint-pouring community as a pouring medium. I'm not sure if the satin enamel is water based... I know the enamel part is quite oily... And you have to mix it into the paint really well. It will separate if you leave it sitting on your self for a while.

    wow that look awesome, love the colors. I'm so glad you have had some time to put up some videos, I've miss seeing them. You explain things so I understand it, so thank you for taking time to teach us. The amount of peal pour is alot which I know could be cut in half but my question is how long can you keep it where you would still get the pearl reaction?

    • @MetaPours
      @MetaPours  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Barbara,
      Thank you! And I'm happy to be putting up videos too. I've missed everyone! It really is my pleasure to help people learn this type of artform.
      As far as your question goes, I'm not sure how much I can reduce the satin enamel, and still get the pearls, but it sounds like an experiment that needs to happen!

    Thanks for the updated recipe. It’s funny how many different ones there are. For the color paint I use 1 pt paint, 2 pts LQTX, 3 pts floetrol and water to thin. I get great results with such a different recipe. There’s probably many out there. Always fun to experiment 🆒

    I am a beginner and not sure if pearls are the same thing as the cells mentioned by other paint pourers? Did you get this Pearl effect without silicone oil ?

    • @MetaPours
      @MetaPours  2 роки тому

      I do get the pearl effect without silicone. It's all in how the paints are mixed. However satin enamel does have some kind of oil in it. (fairly certain) and I know it contributes. The difference between pearls, and cells is (from what I understand) the amount of paint combined to create them. Pearls are generally a single color. In this case, created by the white paint. Cells are when multiple paints form together creating cool multi-colored cells. Sometimes you will hear people use the term interchangeably. I personally love them both.

    Thanks so much for tutorial, I’m in Oz and a beginner. How do I see written recipes for this video. I’m at a loss, your results are so nice. Is liquid enamel a house paint? Thanks, Marla

    • @MetaPours
      @MetaPours  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Marla, here is a link to part 1 of this video that goes over the recipe for the pearl base. I also go over exactly how to mix it. ua-cam.com/video/bf9hFc-ul_M/v-deo.html
      The recipe is 1 part paint to 1 part floetrol. The paint part is 1/2 artist loft soft body, and 1/2 decoart satin enamel. Using actual measurements it would be 4 oz of Soft body + 4 oz of Satin enemal + 8 oz of the Floetrol. Then you add the Liquitex Pouring Medium, then the water to thin.

    • @MetaPours
      @MetaPours  2 роки тому

      Oh, and Decoart Satin Enamel is more of a craft paint than a house paint. I buy mine at Michaels. but it is also available on Amazon. It comes in 8 oz jars.

  • @lisavaliton1786
    @lisavaliton1786 Рік тому

    Since you measure/weigh yeah flow trawl and pains, why don’t you weigh your pants after you or add we sat in them so that you can precisely guesstimate how much that you added and then wait again after you add your water to the correct consistency, and then you would have a numerical amount for your water as well. This just would be helpful for us as we cannot see the consistency on our end here. 11:26
