Things that are a must are: Radio link= TBS Crossfire Motors= T Motor or IFLIGHT Xing (But there are alot of other great manufacturer's of motors as well) Frame= Bando Killer and DQUAD Obsession are what I use. Electronics= EMAX ESC's and I use DYS FC's which I don't think are around anymore. Camera's= RunCam Johnny and Steele versions (Analog). VTX= TBS Unify Pro's Only (Analog) Radio= Spektrum DX9 Black Edition with TBS full-size module. Batteries= Ovonics cause they are the best priced decent quality batteries.
Grate guide to those just starting out. I wish this kind of info was available five years ago, I may have been able to progress out of toy grade quads to proper rpv free style...

I agree with everything you said, my fav stack is the flywoo goku f7 and racerstar 35a. For motors I'm really liking the flight xing-e 2207. I prefer ovonic over cnhl for value.
I wish I'd seen this before buying a RTF kit, oh well. Great concise, straight to the point overview. Although there's a bewildering amount of choice it's great to see a realistic a costed proposed set-up and also see that there's not so much between the DJI option compared to analog when you look at it correctly.

That's a good explanation on what is needed for building a drone, the best tip was to buy at least 2/spare's. Especially when you crash as much as me.
