'Mums Independent' on Facebook have more detail. (Birth Canal is a more accurate description than the Latin vagina). The most painful few minutes are when the neck of the uterus suddenly stretches from 8cm to 10cm diameter, to allow baby's head out - most mums scream; and after that the future contractions are not as intense. No I didn’t do perineal massage. I think my pain was more intense too because the baby had to turn his head
