I'll never get tired of praising Kristin!! The era of pretty opera singers finally has come!!! With Kristin, Anna Netrebko, Katherine Jenkins and a host of oher beauty queens... Beauty, please come and shed your wonder light on mothy opera
OMG SHE IS AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!! i knew that she could sing, but i didn't know that she was a trained opera singer, Her voice is exquistely beautiful and unique voice that will always be cherished!!! AMAZING!!!!
"Glitter and Be Gay" is considered to be one of the most difficult songs in musical theater to sing and Kristen absolutely nails it. Thoroughly impressed!
To be able to do that is just a miracle. I'm speechless and about ten shades of green with envy. The "laughing ha ha" part is especially demanding because first she does it along with the music, then she does it again one note/beat behind it, but stays on course.
I hadn't heard any of the other singers mentioned here before so I checked a couple of their videos out and I like Kristin the best. I love how she brings the song to life, and I also think that her voice is brilliantly suited for this style.
Thanks for posting. Kristin is just musical perfection! God blessed her with amazing talent. Kristin blesses the world with it. "A SONG has no better friend than Kristin Chenoweth!"
Agree. If anyone hasn't checked out Kristin's broadway debut in "Steel Pier" singing "Two Little Words"........WOW!!!! Don't compare her just to opera stars, she is a comedic performer par excellence!
I really wish she would do more opera. She is so amazing and super talented. I was blown away. I know that she has a degree in opera, but I had no idea she was this good. Brava!
I can't get tired from listening to or looking at Kristin. I'd wish to hear her singing opera. After all, Glitter is an opera aria in its own right. What would deter Kristin from singing any operatic repertoire - say Bellini or Donizetti? Bravo, Kristin
The first interpretation that really made me laugh (in a positive sense ;-) ). I LOVE you, you and your interpretation and I hope that these jewels are gonna make you rich !!!
She's so great! I really loved her voice since I first heard her... and if you can believe people's tellings she has to be a very fine person, too! I hope to see her life on stage one day....
The character that she is in during this performance is Cunegonde from 'Candide'. And you are absolutely right, this is fantastic and she is fantastic. There's no one else like her that can perform like this.
This performance is from 2004. She has improved both vocal and acting sides of this song even more. She was spot on for the 3 times I saw her live singing this song in 2009.
She is absolutely amazing! I'm a dramatic soprano with a high G when I'm doing lip bubbles...but I can't imagine hitting an E flat that many times. Props to you Kristin!
Thats was by far the best performance I have ever seen and her voice is very unique and beautiful. The fact that shes off beat in everything she does including her voice makes her all the more interesting.
I wish EVERY one of my voice students could see this and understand the kind of vocal control and versatility they need to compete in the theatrical world. That is not only a naturally talented voice - it's a well trained one as well.
this performance is so much better than the one on the "in concert" version merely because it is more straightforward...there is too much going on in that DVD version...this is great!!!
With one foot in traditional opera and the other in musical theatre, nobody is better positioned than La Chen to perform this piece - I dare you to find a performance of this that is more fun, that you understand better, or brings you greater joy. I want you at my next pajama party, baby! I'll supply the root beer and Jiffy Pop!
I'd say it's most definately in the feel of Candide. Meanwhile, this is the best performance I've seen of her. I missed this performance live, but her control for the notes following "here I droop my wings" is just magnificent. She is truely a master.
Wow. I love hearing Cheno sing in a more operatic style. She's fantastic singing other styles too but her voice is so beautiful when she goes coloratura on it!!
What a joy. glad to have seen it, now I want to find out more about her. This role was written to be miked so that does not bother me at all. What fun.
i actually have a friend whose mom grew up in broken arrow, oklahoma, was a few years older than kristin, and went to high school with her! she is just perfect.
I normally hate opera singers. There's something about the operatic style that grates at my ears. But whenever I listen to Kristin sing opera, I can't stop listening. She has SUCH an amazing talent. Love her to death!
Her amazing performance of this role at Carnegie Hall is available on DVD and co-stars Paul Groves as Candide and Patti Lupone as The Old Woman. A truly fantastic production! If you enjoy this video, check it out.
I adore Kristin Chenoweth. She's such a brilliant actress and singer, and she's so funny. And those high notes...I wish I could hit them as brilliantly as her.
@jtg10795 I love her a lot, so I may be a little biased, but she's brillant. She can do funny, serious (Into Temptation), any kind of singing role, she can play a believeable drunk, and so on... there's nothing wrong with this woman. Truly incredible.
Kristin's reprise of the role of Cunegonde is from June 13 to July 23 2008. And it is being held at the London Coliseum by the English National Opera. Kristin's making her ENO debut over there in Candide. The tickets are now being sold. Also, for you Patti LuPone fans, she won't be there as the Old Woman.
If you'd seen her in the PBS Candide or her concert at the Met in 2007, the "France" is how they staged it when she was in Candide and her solo concert (which was phenomenal). It's part of that particular version of the show
Is this from a documentary special? Kristin, is an amazing singer, in fact no words can describe, but I'll have to make do with what I have, Beautiful, funny and talented! I could go on for years!
She's multi talented to the max. She originally had a full OPERA scholarship in NY but a chance audition led to Broadway. So she is IS an classically trained Opera singer - get your facts right.
Her and Damrau both have beautiful renditions of this piece. The one thing I love is that with Kristin is that with her (lunga) colla voce part at the end before her last ha! she has like NO accented glottal attack on the few "ha's."
I love that she can sing opera with perfect comic timing. That is one of the hardest things to do. Awesome!!!
Hysterical! What an outstanding preformance. This girl has so much talent it's unbelievable. I don't know how she can fit it in such a tiny body.
Her comedic timing is exemplary....beautiful, gracious, supremely talented woman...LOVE HER!!
Who knew this girl could sing, and sing like that! Such a lovely voice, and such fun!
BRILLIANT! Kristin successfully combines singing, acting and comedic skill. The haters have NO IDEA how difficult this aria really is.
I'll never get tired of praising Kristin!! The era of pretty opera singers finally has come!!! With Kristin, Anna Netrebko, Katherine Jenkins and a host of oher beauty queens... Beauty, please come and shed your wonder light on mothy opera
wow. that is like, the brightest voice I've heard in my entire life.
Just fantastic! She is so darned good! Superbly talented, seems like a real person. I really enjoy her work.
OMG SHE IS AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!! i knew that she could sing, but i didn't know that she was a trained opera singer, Her voice is exquistely beautiful and unique voice that will always be cherished!!! AMAZING!!!!
Brilliant performance! Kristin once again delivers the whole package - singing, acting, comedic timing. What an amazing and versatile talent!
I love her! She is so brilliant and her voice is so beautiful!
Kristin Chenoweth has an breathtaking operatic head voice AND she can belt like no one else. I idolize her.
She is spectacular! She performs classical opera in a way that people who dont normally enjoy opera are completely entertained. I adore her~
Amazing! She has a great range and every note has so much personality!!! She's outstanding, I love her.
That was fantastic and unlike what one said earlier...that is one of the best high E's, I have heard and I have heard some of the best.
I love her! Can't wait 'till she hits London with this in June. That top E-flat at the end is something else...
I hadn't heard any of the other singers mentioned here before so I checked a couple of their videos out and I like Kristin the best. I love how she brings the song to life, and I also think that her voice is brilliantly suited for this style.
Lovely! Really enjoyed her performance of this already wonderful song!
Watching her perform is so inspiring. She gives everything 100%; you just can't help but watch her. That's true stage presence. :3
she makes it look easy.. very charming with loads of personality
I love this performance!
she is awesomely wonderful!
it's funny how she jumps up and down still singing! hehehe.
I'm falling in love with this song.
The orchestra are incredible.
She's incredible.
I LOVE IT.
What an amazing talent! And how wonderful to see an artist making Opera fun!
BRILLIANT! This has always been one of my favorite arias. I'm grateful this was posted.
Lmao I LOVE it. She is such a funny and down to earth person. Always laughing and putting on a great show. Thanks so much for the post.
absolutely flawless!!!!!who would ever think that broadway could be so fortunate to have such a gem!
I really wish she would do more opera. She is so amazing and super talented. I was blown away. I know that she has a degree in opera, but I had no idea she was this good. Brava!
Such a beautiful voice. I loved this performance.
I had the transcendent privilege of being onstage when she did this at Carnegie Hall and absolutely blew the roof off the place.
Astonishing voice! Amazing characterization! What a woman!
Superb. I watch this video like ... all the time.
A true coloratura soprano.
Omg why werent people standing up!?!? she should have gotten a standing ovation! THAT WAS AMAZING!
Thank you very much, shillelagh, you make a wonderful point that people keep overlooking. Kudos for both you and Kristen.
She has every criterion needed to perform this aria, a superb technique, an effortless whistle register, a sense of humour...
She's so amazing. I'm seeing her in Candide in London. June! 5 months! I actually cannot wait!
makes me smile!!!.......she really pulls this off!!! and spinning those pearls, you go gurl.......what panache!!!
She's soo amazing.... multi talented and simply wonderful.
She's so great!
I really loved her voice since I first heard her...
and if you can believe people's tellings she has to be a very fine person, too!
I hope to see her life on stage one day....

What a voice!!! She's amazing, really!!
Wow, she is just AMAZING. How could such a huge voice come out of that tiny woman? I don't find her shrill at all, she gives me chills
She's so amazing. I met her in person and she's so nice!
@tooslimnc I love that recording :-D That was an amazing production, and included my favorite conductor. Patti Lupone was also absolutely perfect
Surprisingly very good! Had seen the Dessay just before this, and I was skeptical - but I loved it as well! Just different!
I love Kristin! :) Omg this is amazing!!!
Even though I've always loved this, now after hearing other people sing this song I realize just how much I love Kristin's voice
OMG I've never heard her sing like this - she's amazing!!
this performance is so much better than the one on the "in concert" version merely because it is more straightforward...there is too much going on in that DVD version...this is great!!!
omg i thought no one else noticed that in NOMTW. She seriously kicked it up a notch that night. I WISH I COULD HAVE BEEN THERE!
With one foot in traditional opera and the other in musical theatre, nobody is better positioned than La Chen to perform this piece - I dare you to find a performance of this that is more fun, that you understand better, or brings you greater joy. I want you at my next pajama party, baby! I'll supply the root beer and Jiffy Pop!
omg... how can someone sing like that. AMAZING!! I want her voice!
Her voice touches my soul. I feel in peace when listening to this.
go cheno, go!! shes amazing!! and that high note...class!!
I Saw Kristin the last 3 days as special guest from IL DIVO,she was amazing and sooooooooooooo funny, had really tears in my eyes for laughing..LOL!!
I'd say it's most definately in the feel of Candide. Meanwhile, this is the best performance I've seen of her. I missed this performance live, but her control for the notes following "here I droop my wings" is just magnificent. She is truely a master.
God, I love her.
HOW does she make those crazy high notes look and sound so easy?
Wow. I love hearing Cheno sing in a more operatic style. She's fantastic singing other styles too but her voice is so beautiful when she goes coloratura on it!!

@Sharonichronichles That was epicly GENIUS!
Kristin DID win "a 'Most Talented Up-and-Coming Singer' award in the Metropolitan Opera National Council auditions" when she was heading to college.
I normally hate opera singers. There's something about the operatic style that grates at my ears. But whenever I listen to Kristin sing opera, I can't stop listening. She has SUCH an amazing talent. Love her to death!
@atsammy The Candide recording of her and Patti Lupone is wonderful..."My song...you go!" That production is fabulous....
she is a huge entertainer! She has this special light... like Liza, Judy... I cant stop looking her
The voice of an angel, and still the best Glinda by far! I love her.
She looks amazingly goodlooking in this video. wow. i'm amazed. not for her talent, i already knew that other amazing part of her.
I'm soooo happy that's she's going to reprise the role of Cunegonde in Candide this summer!!!!!
Kristin Chenoweth is my idol!!!!!
Her amazing performance of this role at Carnegie Hall is available on DVD and co-stars Paul Groves as Candide and Patti Lupone as The Old Woman. A truly fantastic production! If you enjoy this video, check it out.
Wow, just simply amazing!
Her voice is absolutely beautiful. She can sing anything.
I adore Kristin Chenoweth. She's such a brilliant actress and singer, and she's so funny. And those high notes...I wish I could hit them as brilliantly as her.
She's like a real life cartoon character. She's so naturally animated. I am so freakin jealous. :D
WOW she is amazing. I love Kristin so much.
"I hope he remembers the little people" LMFAO, her comedic timing is nothing short of genius!
The way she sung France at the begingin made me giggle! :40
The "Oh God" was hilarius also!
GREAT JOB!!!!! 5*
One of my dance teachers went to school with Kristin Chenoweth, super jealous of my dance teacher! Love this song too and love Kristin Chenoweth!
The most amazing thing about her is that she makes it look EASY. It's insane.
@jtg10795 I love her a lot, so I may be a little biased, but she's brillant. She can do funny, serious (Into Temptation), any kind of singing role, she can play a believeable drunk, and so on... there's nothing wrong with this woman. Truly incredible.

Fantabulous!! She is AweSome!
@motownazn it's from Candide. Kristin Chenoweth played Cunegonde in the revival!
