    I was one of the guys that installed this machine. What an amazing team that Titan has at his shop. I've been doing this job for 24 years and one thing I can say is this group has something in common. One word to say about what they are doing...... Passion! After being in this facility my passion level has increased and what they are doing with the Academy and CNC Expert is great for this industry. Thanks Titan and keep doing what you are doing for our industry.

    One small thing about what travis said about the air hose, by doubling the diameter of a hose, you actually square the flow rate given the same pressure because surface area of a cross-section squares.

    Heller machines are some of the best for high volume production. A lot of what my company makes doesn't have the tolerancing to utilize Heller machines at their price point, but we do have a bunch at at least one of our facilities. I've made some fixtures for them before, though the machines being used were the machines with the built-in hydraulic table couplers, which is perfect because you completely avoid ever getting chips (in this case aluminum) into your hydraulic pump tank which can cause a ton of problems.

    Minor correction, at .57 the statement going from 1/4" to 1/2" air fittings doubles your air capacity is incorrect. It is over 5X more..!
    1/4" @ 120PSI 50' of line the CFM is around 5.8
    1/2" @125PSI 50' of line the CFM is around 32.8
    So, doubling the line size will increase the air flow by over 5 times!
    Going from 1/4" to 3/8" over doubles your flow rate. (5.8 to 11.2)
    Most folks use Milton M series fittings, I've switched to V series as the flow rate is over 50% more (for 3/8" hose, not 1/4").
    Love this channel!

    Hey Titan and Co,
    A while back, Titan came on one of the videos and asked for the most challenging projects. He asked to send them to an email address, which I can't find any more. But I think I've found a way to challenge you guys to the extreme. There are two things that I won't believe you can do until I see them. The first challenge: using any form of steel, create a 12 inch record out of it that can be played - more than once without being damaged - and includes at least half an hour of music. It has to be stereo (extra challenge!) and it has to have full frequency range (20-20000 Hz) and a noise floor of less than -50 dB. I'm an audio engineer, I can help you do this. This would require immense precision in all three axes, while machining out an extremely thin channel into metal. The second challenge: create a hologram by machining it into steel. No ifs and buts - it's doable! Well, in theory it is... You would have to be insanely, incredibly precise with this one.
    Both challenges are way outside your comfort zone... I want to see if you can do it.

As he said, there're a lot of plants that have like 100 machines just from heller, and they almost never try any other brand. ZF has several plants in the DACH-Region, Some of them have over 150 Hüller-Hille, a direct competitor to Heller. Heller and others such as Starrag tried to get them to switch while Hüller-Hille couldn't deliver machines, they basically gifted them a couple machines. ZF still went back to Hüller-Hille because they had problems they never encountered before and the operators hated the other makes.

    I enjoy your channel. I don't often comment but I have to say something.
    We all understand how to bring manufacturing back to America. 99% of Americans can't get capital to bring it back.
    Anyone in these comments have the capital to start any manufacturing in America? I mean any type?
    So let's talk about how America can give its citizens millions in loans, and stop giving already stacked people more stuff. Economic feudalism defeats capitalism.

  • @GrumpyMachinist
    @GrumpyMachinist 2 роки тому

    Obviously Titan, you are in a much different situation than the shop I run. I'm making an assumption that some of your fast growth is fueled by sponsorship but your level of growth in such a short time is insane. Knowing what I know now about the business, because of leveraging(assuming you are financing) I certainly would be having some sleepless nights if I were you.This industry is absolutely insane at the moment because suppliers are still having a difficult time getting parts from overseas in a timely manner. We have customers paying 4x their overseas price. They're ticked when the see the quote but they almost always give a call back 2 days later singing another tune. We're rolling with it but I have huge concerns that the bottom is going to drop out. We can preach buy American until we are blue in the face but the fact is, more often than not, business is always going to chase the lowest price and wages.

    • @TITANSofCNC
      @TITANSofCNC  2 роки тому +1

      That’s why it’s important to tech the techniques Caterpillar and others have used to automate their production lines. Automation allows us to remove labor costs and allows prices to drop so we can afford to produce in our own country. Instead of 100 employees in a shop you will have 20… but you will have way more shops rise up that run more efficient. Which puts more people to work.

      @@TITANSofCNC You're leaving out the upstream and downstream effects, Titan. Most of us who make things do.
      Let's say Joe builds a factory manufacturing in the US Some Item That Is Only Made Overseas Now. He hires 25 people. Frank, Ed and Sam also build factories in the same industrial park manufacturing in the US Other Items That Are Only Made Overseas Now. They also hire 25 people. Now you have 104 families - Joe, Frank, Ed and Sam (JFES) also have families - that need to eat, buy household goods, drive cars, get their hair cut, put their money in the bank, go to the doctor, put their kids in school and on and on. There have to be suppliers that provide the materials JFES use to make their products, and those companies employ people who have families. Truckers must be employed to move the Items That Are Now Made In The US to the people who sell them. The companies who sell those items must hire workers to operate the stores. If JFES aren't making consumer goods, the people who buy those items must hire workers to install them into their own Items That Are Made in the US or use them to make their own parts - and all those workers have the same needs JFES' workers do. If they're making, say, cars, people have to be employed to fix the cars, sell tires for them and so on and so forth.
      In the military we said that for every one person who actively engages the enemy, you needed ten people to supply him food, water, petroleum, ammunition, medical assistance, maintenance and information on where the enemy is. (Okay, if that one person is flying an Apache or driving a tank it's more like thirty people - twenty to keep the weapons system operational and ten to do all the other work.) It's like that in industry. Your crew is making it possible for a lot of people you will never see to lead good lives.
      America was at its best when we had a robust manufacturing capability. The things that Titan is doing to bring manufacturing back to America are doing more toward making America great again than any politician could ever do.

      @@TITANSofCNC For sure. Also, we need material prices to come down, especially metric stock. It's puts us at a huge disadvantage when our foreign competitors are purchasing stock and completing the machining for a little more than what our material costs are.

      @@matthiaszobl Yeah, me too. An older style of the one I had in mind also only used 3. It's not just the rigidity while milling. The problems for us started with these extreme acceleration numbers today's machines need. Especially with the 5-axis. You also have to consider the type of cuts you can take with a 2600nm 80kw spindle. I've seen someone run a Kennametall Harvi Helical mill cutter with 80mm diameter straight into a block of titanium, taking a 50mm deep cut.
