    My mom is deaf and I've encountered the same in public. She is very strong and was always determined to prove others wrong.

    Don't feel too bad Dr. Stark. I didn't watch Empire at all. Then I started watching clips on UA-cam and I have to say that I now feel EMBARRASSED -- Truly Embarrassed -- that I've been missing this all this time. I had no idea it was sooo good!!!

      Kasnar Burns same thing happen to me I was sleeping on empire heard everyone I knew talking about it and then I just dismiss it until 4 July weekend 2 years ago empire had a marathon on tv one . I sat and watch and episode with my mother and sister for the first time. after that I stayed up no lie for the rest of the weekend just so I can catch up and I have been a fan ever since lol

    Why would you not have captions for a video about deaf people??? Get it together

    • @DavidKen878
      @DavidKen878 7 років тому +1

      Sage White Captions are generated by UA-cam, not the individual uploaders.

      Any language you try to learn is difficult I took Spanish 1,2 & 3 (only took the first semester of Spanish 3 bc of the teacher) & it was difficult so it's not just one language

      an even better question is whether the deaf community accept her as a spokesperson??? Yes, she has deaf parents but not sure where she fits in as an advocate.

    • @frannie19911

      Because hearing-impaired also encompasses people who are not completely deaf. Some people can have one ear that's completely deaf or partial hearing loss.

    • @babe7138
      @babe7138 7 років тому +2

      Francesca De Castro they still don't like "hard of hearing" or "non hearing " they like the term Deaf or deaf.

    • @Jesus1forme1
      @Jesus1forme1 7 років тому +8

      having been involved in the deaf community for almost 10 years, they hate the term hearing impaired. it's symbolizes something is wrong with them just because they can't hear. those that are hard of hearing, it really just depends on the individual. some hard of hearing prefer to be called deaf and some will correct you and say they are HH. if you ever meet a deaf person, just keep in mind that they are capable of doing anything a hearing person can do except hear. and don't ever ask if they know how to read braille! they get asked that all the time. they are deaf not blind!

    • @babe7138
      @babe7138 7 років тому +6

      Jesus1forme1 yes !!! Finally someone that actually knows about the deaf community and don't just speak out their ass

    Deaf are very expressive with their faces, so u can tell that Grace learned that. My sister is deaf and people can't handle their ways of expression. I grew up with a deaf sister, so I was naturally in-tuned with her. Grace is fine though.

      Olurazhidaan Mbotu-Mitchell not really. it's an actual fact that deaf drivers are better than those that hear. one of my friends (who is deaf) was driving and before the siren of a firetruck came on she pulled over. why did you pull over? she pointed in the rear mirror that the fire truck was approaching in the distance and they turned on their lights. secs later the siren turned on.
