Oh my! When I first saw your video titled “Shooting Squirrels” I was shocked that you went from photography to firearms! Then I watched and realized you were “shooting” images of them. Such a dummy. I LOVE all your beautiful work! Always a feast for the soul and eyes. Thank you and God bless you. 🐿 📸
Thank you! :)
Some great photos as always, John. Thank you for sharing👍
Thanks David! Glad you enjoyed it!
Hi John that image at 7.00 is delightful and I'm happy you got the Squirrels in the end. Yes I agree waterfalls don't look very impressive looking down. I was at the Loup of Fintry yesterday but it could do with some heavy rainfall, shots I took there 2 years ago had some wonderful cascades. Love your easy laid-back presentation you should have thousands of followers.
Thanks Marella! I've haven't been to the Loup of Fintry for a couple of years, I'll pencil that location in (once we've had some rain!)
Were you there for sunset? I've only ever shot it late in the day, but I keep meaning to visit early morning to see how it looks at sunrise.
@@JohnMcKennaPhotography Unfortunately I had a pressing appointment so had to leave early. Would be great to take a shot from the bottom but it is very steep, 2 seconds to get down and 2 days to get back up lol.
Hello again John I've just processed my images from The Loup and wondered is it possible to upload one to this vlog for you to give an opinion, I don't have much of a clue about vlogs.
Hi Marella, I'm not sure if you can images on here. Would love to see your work though! If UA-cam doesn't allow image uploads feel free to email me:

and I'll get back to you! :)
Fantastic John, love the squirrel shots - btw young squirrels are called kittens 👍
Thanks mate!
The squirrels were very cute, don't know how they managed to put away so many nuts! Thought they'd be triple the size from when we saw them the week before :-)
haha - me too!
Aaaaaawww, so cute. The squirrels, not you ya dafty. The most red squirrels I've seen are around the gardens at the north end of Callander, people are obviously feeding them. Although they've now made their way across the carse and can be found in the woods north of Buchlyvie.
The big fall (Waterfall of the Little Fawn, beat that for a romantic sounding name) is at its best at a midwinter sunrise, no leaf canopy, the sun aligns nicely and there's a lot more water - not to mention no schoolkids or rockets going 'wheeeeee' overhead. The lodge balcony is also great for low lying misty weather.
Is that the name of the big waterfall?? I didn't know that! Does sound great eh?
Don't get me started on the overhead rockets.... the original version of this video contained several rants. I decided to cut the worst of them and suddenly the video was 6 minutes shorter!!
@@JohnMcKennaPhotography Camadh Laidir in the gaelic according to Canmore, supposedly - but I think its a mis-naming. My gaelic dictionaries definitely imply 'strong bent man' or 'bent stick'; maybe. I'd go with the dictionaries as gaelic doesn't tend towards romantic descriptions for geography - red crag, long loch, little hill etc. No surprise though if its got one name in Gaelic, one in English, one in Scots and one in old French, considering the number of Eas, Falls, Loups and Linns in the area.
There's some really nice cascades about 100 yards down from the bridge as well, if you've brought your wellies 😁
Haven't been to the Davy Marshall Lodge for years. Last time I was there the Duke's Pass was unpassable! but hadn't been closed yet. Had a bit of fun trying to turn the car round. Great waterfall shots, and squirrels, but my favourite was that branch with the moss.
I was the same - hadn't been for years then 2 visits in the space of a week!
Glad you liked the mossy branch! Just caught my eye when I should have been doing something else - but I couldn't resist grabbing the shot! :)

Great again John, always pass this place going to photograph Loch Katrine , never giving it a second thought, how are the crowds, and is it part of Go Ape?
Thanks Jeff! It was quiet both days. There are usually small crowds at the Go Ape areas but the rest of the forest is relatively quiet.
Woodland shots r good (do you 'dodge & burn' as it were in your post processing ¿) 10 yrs in the blink of an eye ~ yep... liked the 1/60 of group of trees. Red squirrels looked fairly healthy ~
Thanks! I need to get back there in autumn!
