The Role of Grid Software in Decarbonization & The Energy Transition

GE Digital is a combination of a software company with industrial roots, building software based on relationships with customers and market space. The energy transition is changing the environment with new sources of electricity while customer demands are changing. The electric grid has been called the greatest engineering achievement of the 20th century, the largest industrial investment and the most complex machine ever built. The role of the grid today is transforming into a complex highway interchange that must handle all the influx of renewables such as wind turbines and solar panels connecting to the grid. This calls for a better way of holistically orchestrating the many systems on the grid, putting a safe, reliable, affordable, and green grid at the center of decision making. GE’s grid software allows to take all of this data and respond to this dynamic environment and make the right decision towards decarbonization.

New Predix? Have witnessed that product lifecycle as GE employee, all the buzz around it (we have footprint and expertise, we can't fail) followed by failure and loss of confidence in its magic. Independent developers did not wanted to use it, platform was slow, wasn't able to deliver what was promised.
As a shareholder I wish GE a good luck, but have little trust in Predix or GE's ability to win the AI race against software giants.
