Great little campground. I've stayed there many times. There used to be another one called Teal Pond that's just right around the corner but the U.S.Forest Service closed it. You can still go back there but it's completely grown over.

Great! We'd never heard of it, but we were glad we found it.

Some of the western section of Shawnee N.F. is considered to be in the Ozarks. The more eastern section is called the Shawnee Hills.

I don't believe that was my most flattering look, but that's okay.

Bell Smith Springs was the place that made me fall in love with Shawnee National Forest! I go there at least a few times a month. This was a great video to watch and a really good review. Thanks for posting it!

Me, too! It is where my family lived for almost 200 years. My sister still lives on top of Bell Smith Springs. I wanted to leave right out of high school. I went to the University of Illinois and had no intention of coming back. I came back, but for years I worked indoors until I couldn't anymore. I have been in the hills and hollers almost everyday since! We are so blessed!

Great video. I was just at Redbud. Great trails and a peaceful campground. Those roads leading to the campground were a little too narrow for my liking.

The roads were narrow, but the campground was beautiful.

Learned something new. I thought the Ozarks were in Missouri. Well, it shows just how massive they are. Keep having fun, enjoy and be safe.

We took some real liberties with the Ozarks. The Ozarks (also referred to as the Ozark Mountains or Ozark plateau) extend across five states: Missouri, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Kansas, and Illinois. The majority of the region falls in Southern Missouri and Northern Arkansas. Illinois, Kentucky, Indiana aren't really part of the Ozarks.

I actually don't recall, but since it's sort of north, my guess would be yes.

Is the campsite redbud first come first serve? Or did you reserve online?
