Good to see you back fella. I’m a season ticket holder at Goodison and while the football hasn’t been great to watch, he’s pulled results out of the bag that we had no expectations of getting. I’ve always been a results over style kind of football fan, so in my opinion, Everton would be foolish to part ways with him in the summer. I’d like him to be more proactive when bringing making subs but then if you look at some of the match day squads he’s had to clobber together this season, he’s had a lack of options on numerous occasions
Hi mate, excellent video very well spoken. I am a season ticket holder at goodison park and I would say one of the situations dyche has handled superbly since coming is the volatility of our fan base. Things have been so tense and touchy there for years that you are only ever one or two bad games away from having your head on a spike. The fans, understandably, have lost all patience. But dyche has sort of managed to circumvent that because there has been bad results and bad performances but i think the dignity he shows is so commendable that the noise never gets overwhelming loud like it did for Lampard, Benitez, Koeman etc. this allows the players more freedom to perform and the connection returns between the crowd and team. We got to see what a United goodison park can achieve last week with 3 wins in one week. also totally agree that any conversation about if dyche is the man to take us into bramley Moore dock lacks respect. What he has done here is phenomenal and to be blunt he has made his predecessors look totally clueless. Also, we like to think that the stadium and new ownership could bring financial stability. There could be a scenario where dyche does have more funds and thus more technical players and we may see everton fly up the table to where I believe we should be as a minimum based on our history, European positions. He has been the shining light in a era of absolute negativity for me and he has my total respect and admiration no matter what happens in the future. Many thanks for your video mate, it was superb and I’ve shared it to other evertonians and told them to check out your content. Keep up the smashing work.
That’s such a well thought out analysis of the situation; thanks for taking the time to comment. I honestly feel as though he’s handled it almost too well, in the sense that most outside the Everton bubble are viewing it as par for the course because he isn’t playing it up himself.
Evertonian 70 years old so the Blues have been in the top Division all my life. Great VideoI think you're right Sean is a great fit for us and given the lack of funding he's had compared to some of our recent managers he's doing a great job. Great channel just subscribed!
I feel as though he will have had very different expectations when taking the job in comparison to the reality but for me, he appears to have handled it superbly.
Followed you on twitter for years and just had this pop up in my suggestions. Great video, couldn't agree more with your sentiments. Just had to point out last weeks win against Liverpool wasn't the first in quite as long as you said. It was the first Goodison /in front of fans victory in a Merseyside derby in absolutely ages, however Everton won under Carlo at Anfield without fans during covid times. Thank you for the content!
He’s done a brilliant job and I’d add his handling of injured players has been first class. We’ve played well this season and not won too frequently. Having a reliable (10-15 goal season) centre forward would see this side comfortably top ten. Fan’s views are mixed and he’s criticised by many who don’t even understand what they’re watching. Having seen his and Allardyce’s football, I’d pick Dyche any day. Great vid thanks.
The striker element is huge, DLC has always had goals in him without fulfilling the promise and Beto has been frustrating, even from a neutral POV. I do wonder what the tactical set-up next season will bring.
@@HLTCOMEDIA yeah, Dom had that one v good season under Ancelotti when we all thought he’d arrived. Injuries have hampered him since and the Arsenal links have stopped. Dyche clearly opted for tight defence this season - with great success and out of necessity given our squad - as a good defence and average attack stays up, other way around, goes down. Can he do more with more creativity where it matters? yes, probably. Will he get that next season,? Not sure. We’ll probably end up with less than we have this season sadly…
Very good, timely analysis. I have been an Everton fan for 57 years, and every Everton manager has to manage the ambitions of a fanbase bred on historic success. Dyche takes a methodic, mathematical approach to welding a group of average Premier League players into a tight unit in which the individuals try to do their best. I like the way he does not get rocked by disaster (the Chelsea game) or get carried away. Moyes was the same.....his teams got tanked now and then, and he would then restore an even keel. He is undoubtedly manager of the year given the stresses around Everton.
It’s intriguing that yourself and a couple of others have said he should be Manager of the Year because I think we all know, stylistically, he won’t get a look in despite a very solid case.
Good to see you back. I believe Shaune Dyche will be at Everton next season as well, the 777 take over not going to the plan. Because of that the club need solid manager in place.
He should be in discussion for manager of the year. Not saying he'd win it, that run without a win simply wasn't good enough and we could have easily pushed the panic button and sacked after Bournemouth, but given the mentality aspect of points deductions and to take a side to safety regardless is a massive achievement.
Completely agree. I'd like to hope that Sean can take even the criticisms as a compliment, because it's just so much trivial nitpicking. There'll be no last game melodrama this year, no histrionics, and all the flack I was getting from reds before the derby in my old schoolfriends' WhatsApp group went quiet after the game! Job done, Sean, enjoy a couple more wins and a relaxing summer break.
Great to see you back on UA-cam, Dan. I always enjoy hearing your takes on Palace and football generally. I strongly agree with you about Dyche. Fact is the only reason we have had relegation "trouble" this season is because of the points deductions. He has improved the team with very weird resources. He has shown that he wants to play "good" football" when he can. Without the worry over points worries & and deductions, there HAS to be at least the idea that we would have earned more points. He deserves a chance to try and take us forward. He took us from 16th & 17th to (with points) comfortable mid table. Let him try and challenge for top 10 or 7.

Yeah, I completely get that perspective. He’s not a “sexy” manager and never will be. That’s likely to mean that his long-term prospects with you are relatively gloomy despite the job he does being an incredibly solid one.
You ask a good question about how Sean Dyche will be seen going into the new season. I think he’s essential for our club’s ongoing wellbeing while it’s a basket case off the pitch. He brings a fairly orthodox and traditional style of leadership and stability, shouldering accountability without ego in times of great difficulty. Because there is no corporate structure in place and no firm vision or direction for the wider organisation, he is able to provide a central focus for players and staff to align to. That kind of situation requires firm and unwavering leadership and without it there is no culture or direction at all; so I would say we are almost dependent on him until the point we have a functioning football club. Whether he demonstrates his ability and ambition to continue that progress in less trying times will determine how long his tenure might last in the longer term
This is the thing, I feel he may always be stuck in the stereotype of a steady pair of hands to navigate choppy waters before being replaced when the figurative Everton ship has made it into calmer tides. It’s a shame for him personally but it feels somewhat inevitable.
He's the best Everton manager since Moyes. And that includes Ancelotti and Martinez. Carlo was never really an "Everton" manager. He is a Real Madrid manager. Martinez would've relegated our current crop. I hope we hold on to Dyche for years to come because he suits Everton perfectly.
It’ll never come his way because of the prevailing winds but I wouldn’t necessarily argue your point. It feels like the stoicism he’s shown in hurdling whatever has been thrown at him will work against any award-based recognition.
We did not win a match for the almost four months and people were considering he had to go.He went on a longer win less streak than Mike Walker who held that unenviable record prior, lost more matches and avoided the sack, than Rafa, Lampard, Silva, Koeman and Martinez. My question is this - (ignoring the current feeling of elation of winning and now being safe) What did he change in those matches, tactically, technically, personnel wise, that turned it all around, that we should now give him another year. Did we swap to back three, did he bring people into the team for reasons other than enforced through injury or suspensions etc, did he introduce new patterns of play? In between all that Chelsea, hardly a bastion of good football, form and team work this year, battered us 6 Nil. As a guy, and in the situation he finds himself, Dyche has my sympathies. I will give him credit for that.
It’s a very interesting analysis, that. Do you feel the club would be better moving on from him this summer or, given the chaos behind the scenes, sticking with him?
@@HLTCOMEDIA I think in the short term, he deserves to be given a chance. But I would preface that, by saying I would like to see more tactical flexibility and in game management, and noticeable improvements to players through coaching, we cannot have another season where he sticks to under-performing favourites, at the expense of younger talent, that I think has been scarce so far. On that point, as you suggest, I am willing to say or rather concede, that could be the chaos behind the scenes, hampering him. However if recent days news is anything to go by, I am genuinely concerned as should any Evertonian as to what this summer will bring. He's likely to lose key players in order for us to "balance" the books, we could lose the spine of the team. I appreciate that part of things may have tested your resolve somewhat 😅
here's a view, a like and a comment as a small contribution to the algorithm for your return :)
