So what do u think? Are u saying u think it was staged?? That the announcer didn't even say rich strike's name until the last second- he wasn't even watching him- makes this unlearned person think it wasn't but I'd love to hear your thoughts

@@allysonh6410 it is impossible to know for sure, but with all my expertise about horse racing, I know this is one of the hardest sports to fix a winner with. I believe what we saw was a pure miracle.

@@allysonh6410 I don't think that's what he's saying. What he's saying (and what I'd say as someone who grew up in the sport, playpen in the barn area while my dad trained and all) is that this was one of those one in a million runs. Everything went just right.

I doubt it. This race set up perfectly from a pace perspective for a deep closer. The opening quarter was the fastest in Derby history, and the half mile was like 45 seconds, which is like sprinting speed. This made it so the front runners faded and the deep closers had a chance. Unless the Preakness has a super hot pace then Rich Strike probably won't win. I hope I am wrong, and that the horse is just getting really good now, but I doubt it.

Standing stunned for 10 minutes after the race before realizing I had earlier in the day played $1 exacta All with the favorites 2nd, I got a feeling of what Lucien Lauren must have felt when he was stunned by Secretariats loss in the Wood Memorial, only to realize later he actually won the race with Angle Light.

I think I will watch this race on a somewhat regular basis for the rest of my life. I'm pretty old and have seen some pretty good underdog sports moments but, nothing as perfect as this. He was a late scratch fill-in that left the 20th position at 80-to-1.
