His playstyle was quick release slants, drop back for the deep ball, throws off of run/option, and designed roll outs so he doesn't have to look over the helmets of his offensive line. Dan clearly didn't watch enough Broncos games last year. Russ had a great TD-Int ratio but he was still missing way too many open receivers and couldn't see the middle of the field. The offense was choppy, a ton of 3 yard passes and the occasional bomb to Courtland Sutton. He's obviously better than Pickett, but saying he's a top 12 Quarterback means you are looking at his stats and not the actual game tape.
If you had a head coach utilizing an offensive scheme that uses Wilson's strengths he wouldn't be making 5'11" Wilson try to look downfield over his offensive linemen's heads. If you had a head coach utilizing an offensive scheme that uses Wilson's strengths he wouldn't be forced to look downfield and then thrown an outlet pass for 3 yards as his 3rd read. Payton's schemes were awful for Wilson and if any of you understood the game you'd know this instead of state nonsense like you do.
Still better than all the QBs the Stealers had. How about that? Were they, the Stealers, supposed to idle by and watch Russ go to another franchise? Or make moves for a better chance at winning? 🤔
