Just purchased a 2009 XR1200 from the original owner with only 4,645 miles on it. Excited to start modding, and it looks like Harris Performance is still selling some of these parts in 2021!
Most Harleys don't go, handle or stop, but this one will do all three. Let's face it, bikes are for fun and this sure looks like fun. Like the guy says it's great to ride, isn't that what they are for?
Good points well made randytelecaster, but i think, respectfully, you're slightly missing the point, the XR1200 is a "cap doffing exersise" to the XR 750... it HAS to be twin shock, it HAS to have an oil tank, its a sales ploy to sell an entrenched US brand to the Euro market, and shed some of the inherant cynisism we Europeans have towards the Cruiser models.. I have done 5K miles now on my XR1200x and at 250KG they will always be limited, for what they are they are superb, and i love mine.!
Not a huge fan of the styling, but seems like a nice bike performance-wise. Loads of people on here hating on the Harleys. Bike snobs are ignorant, hating without really understanding. I love all bikes! Every bike has its own unique character, and they are all out in the wind, risking all against the inattentive cagers. People need to stop wasting time on hate.
No quite....basis is there but the heads are Buell and it's much more 'sporty' than a Sportster. I have one and used to have a Sportster. This is like a big Ducati Monster, but with the changes Harris has made...I've done similar but with Termi race system...the bike is flppin' great fun!
@EcrossH I know how you feel, but how about instead of knocking Harley, you post something good about say, the New EBR 1190RS? I own this bike and a 10' Lightning, and I love them both.
Longer Olins don't need the riser blocks I think! I have the shorter Olins as I wanted mine low like the original bike, but if you have normal length shocks, you can up the hight with the riser blocks.
If Harley wants to get out from Down Under... and I mean the water which stands at their throat... they should give us this bike... again... with the M8 engine and an affordable price... this bike was ahead of its time in the US, but not anymore... I am just waiting for the next cruiser or 20k bike nobody wants or can afford
@dial187 Its funny 'cause you will never see a harley fanatic buy this...lol...only a sport bike guy would. most of the HD retailers don't even stock this bike : (
i just read all the comments about what a disappointment the xr1200 is! when there is all the modern designs that could have been so easily applied! the frame is a joke, and an extra shock! I have ridden my brothers more than he has(lucky guy I am) and to see the all the mods done to make them turn! Its sad that Harley is still missing the market!

it´s better, that you drive an Buell. The Buell have the same engine, the handling is better than this XR1200, looks greater, have a better sound. At the end: Harley have killed a very good brand called BUELL. Forget the XR1200. WS from Stuttgart/Germany
Just buy a Speed Triple which is miles better than this straight out of the crate and also save yourself a 7-8 grand. You will also have not have people laughing at you because your on a Triumph and not a fookin Harley. Sorry Neevsey, but you dont pose on one of those!
phew that is an ugly bike, course thats just my opinion, Ill stick with my ultra classic thank you very much, thats what I love about bikes, each person has their own style.

This is probably the best HD ever made. Shame on them (HD) for not making a substitute.

I have a 2009 Harley Davidson XR1200 it's the black one and love it and it really great to ride on the weekend
So do I. Have the orange. Two Brothers exhaust, K&N, power commander and contemplating the Harley suspension upgrade package.

@EcrossH Funny, Buell was tightly formed with HD, and was built with a Harley Davidson engine.
im not a harley fan, but i'd buy one of these
nice to see MCN doing a cruiser, cool, glad I subscribed :)
If money was no concern for the next bike I bought this would be it.

sick bike. one question... i didnt see riser blocks for your suspension. looks like its just bolted into the frame. am i right?
I sure do like it....but is it better than my XB1200 Lightning? How about a comparo test?
I wouldn’t say better, but I wouldn’t say worse different is the word 😂
hey there how do get hold of you I want to buy bike
@DeArmeStudent Are you serious, haven't you ever seen a flat track bike WTF. It is a number plate!
How much does the café racer version cost ? Is that 15 grand - pounds or dollars ?

How did Harris know 60 kilos off the weight? That's brilliant.
@DeArmeStudent Like he said.. its a replica of a race bike. The square is where the race number would be.
@EcrossH Keep an eye out for the Motus MST. I know how you feel, though.
At last a Harley I like, I wouldn't buy one, but i would like to ride one for once.Ripp of the headlight cover anyway.
@DeArmeStudent Well the XR is based off the old flat-track racer.
@DeArmeStudent doh!!! That 'ill be a number-board to attach a race number to..because it is a race modified bike
First Fantastic Harley - not better than a speed triple eh? I like it better. Good job America!
@dial187 and get that plastic off the bottom of the tank while we're at it. Steel is real.
the xr1200 was around for years as an undecided production bike before it was unleashed, to me it looks dated well it should by now
@MadSmokerBBQ Also heavy
@DeArmeStudent have you ever heard of flat tracking? come back when you have
Ultra Classy ponyavatar.
At first I didn't like it. And now I don't want one. Sorry, Mick. Good review.
@dial187 Its funny 'cause you will never see a harley fanatic buy this...lol...only a sport bike guy would. most of the HD retailers don't even stock this bike : (
@adoniscomplex in the uk dude
as first i didn't like it...and then......I WANT ONE! but matt black/blue with majority of logo's removed
what kind of shoes is the guy wearing ? they're hot

@jake011386 XR bassically is a sportster.
But don't switch off cause this is a good one? wtf was that
Because all HD’s suck.
Be better off putting a 80 year old granny on it and letting her show her stuff!

that rattle is annoying
I do like the concept but it is even uglier than speed triple. It looks unfinished...
