I was not aware that Mr Joe Raposo was the composer most of the songs for Sesame Street he has an amazing music composer and musical director. His voice is outstanding,he is an iconic musician.
I wonder why he didn’t correct Douglas when he referred to his having grown up with Italian parents. Raposo was Portuguese and grew up in Fall River, Mass. I was one of many kids who studied classical guitar with his father, who was also named Joseph.
I remember Mr. Raposo his father who was my Violin teacher so long ago in Fall River. It's interesting in Fall River everyone was Portuguese but in the rest of the USA it's rare so everyone thinks you are Italian, it's happened to me so many times.
The story I know is that he worked as the "break" piano player at an old jazz club in Boston called "Storyville." I think it was part of a hotel or something. He was in school (Harvard) and gigged there for extra money.

Thank you, Joe. You helped me keep the magic of childhood in my heart.
He was so freakin' talented. Wow.
Such a charming and engaging personality Joe had. I wish I could have met him.
The original "Sesame Street" composer & musical director!

Exactly is what I thought...good picking up on it. Maybe he was too polite to correct him.
I wondered the same thing! Thanks everybody, for the love and support!

The masters at work
Did he ever mention Three's Company? He did their "then-new" theme music in 1977 with Ray Charles (Offenberg) and Julia Rinker.
That "Ray Charles" 'sung by' credit was always a problem. Couldn't Mr. Offenberg have chosen "Slappy White"?
For the record he was Portuguese not Italian
Do you have any Dinah Shore shows from 58-59 in color?
Anthony did you know Joe perosnally?
No, but I wish I had met him.
I wonder when and where Joe got influenced by jazz since most of his work on Sesame Street was heavily jazz based.

Hi, I was wondering if you had any more clips of Perry Como? He is my favorite singer. Please let me know. Thanks!
