Hey Alex, super interested in this video!
In the US we use a lot of TorX bits, I build my cabs with mostly T-15 and T-20 Self-Tapping Screws, even though I still drill pilot holes.
I still use Philips for the corner protectors still because it’s not practical to get that many small wood screws in Torx.
Also, I stopped using T Nuts and just went to brass threaded 10-24 inserts because T Nuts weren’t grabbing that well in some of my builds and getting lost behind the grill cloth

Torx is popular in mass manufacturing because it works well with robots or power screwdrivers when you're in a hurry and it's a better standard than Allen/hex heads for avoiding rounding out. I remember looking into this a looooooong time ago at the start of Barefaced and finding that pozidrive or phillips pan or flange heads were lower profile (because there's more metal left between the head and the shaft once you've made the indent for the screwdriver).
Regarding t-nuts, there's lots of different ones available and the ones we use nowadays are very spiky with almost barbed prongs - but older cabs may have one that are less determined to stay put, hence all the warnings on this video (and you never know how hard someone will push - it's easy to put a lot of load into the t-nut if you're using a drill driver!)

@@BarefacedAudio thank you for the insight! I need to investigate posi-drive screw heads and these newer T-nuts you speak of, sounds more exononomical, those threaded brass inserts are really expensive!
Like you say, the small details are worth spending $ on. I look up to you a lot, I always put your videos on when I build cabs because you and BareFaced inspire me to make my own small line of cabinets better and better. I’ve tried to follow your advice over the last few years on many things, and I just wanted to say thank you for making yourself available to us small time cab builders in the US. I love what y’all are doing, even though I’ve never owned or seen one of your cabs in person, I can tell you build and engineer them RIGHT. 🤘

Is that a drill driver or an impact driver?

It's a drill driver (but we often use impact driver bits because they last longer!)
